We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.The Visualization and Automation Developer is responsible for supporting visualization needs across the clinical development portfolio and for developing innovative solutions and automations that impact the creation, use, and integration of visualizations related to work jointly supported through the statistics and scientific communications functions. This requires an in-depth understanding of data standards, formats and technologies used for data disclosure, advanced computing methodologies, and programming languages. The Visualization and Automation Developer will collaborate with statistical and scientific writing colleagues in delivering innovative solutions and support to data disclosures.Primary Responsibilities: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the job requirements at the time it was prepared. Consult with your supervision regarding your actual job responsibilities and any related duties that may be required for the position.Portfolio Innovation and DeliveryLead and manage the broad development/implementation of visualization solutions to the clinical portfolio across multiple projects and therapeutic areas.Work with technical project leads to identify new data deliverable formats and create technical blueprints and action plans for the development of visualization solutions to meet business needs.Leverage strong technical knowledge of advanced computing languages (e.g., R, Python, HTML, and JavaScript) to apply innovative visualization solutions.Provide training and support to visualization tool users, and contribute to the development and maintenance of guidance documents, requirements, and job aids.Maintain proficiency with respect to statistical programming and automation methodologies.Project ManagementCollaborate with scientific writing compound leaders to identify and assess projects for visualizations, including figures and tables for clinical documents. Provide technical assessment of potential work projects, including complexity, volume of deliverables, and timelines, to determine appropriate scope of accepted projects and to proactively plan for deliverables.Collaborate with scientific writers, statisticians, programmers, and other stakeholders to ensure the quality and consistency of visualization deliverables.Ensure timely delivery of visualization deliverables to support the identified work projects, anticipating potential technical hurdles and providing technical expertise as needed to resolve issues efficiently for ensuring a successful outcome. Perform work in full compliance with assigned curricula and act responsibly in following all applicable corporate, medical, local, and departmental policies, procedures, processes, and training.Enterprise LeadershipIdentify and implement innovative solutions to enhance the functionality and efficiency of visualization tools using R, HTML, CSS, and other technologies.Identify opportunities for standardization and automation related to data processing, visualization, and publication, and develop effective and efficient solutions for these challenges.Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in data visualization and reporting, and share learnings within the broader communities within the scientific communications and statistics functions.Focus on defining solutions that drive a sustainable, scalable strategy by creating re-usable code, by enabling automation, seamless data delivery, and decreased work effort, and by continuously seeking and implementing feedback.Actively participate in cross-functional initiatives and shared learning for the benefit of the Global Statistical Sciences and Data and Analytics organizations.Minimum Qualification Requirements:Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Informatics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, the natural sciences, or in a related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in clinical research or data visualizationDemonstrated strong programming experience and proficiency with R and R MarkdownOther Information/Additional Preferences:Experience with software development best practices (e.g., using agile principles and tools, with good modular and reusable coding practices, focusing on rapid delivery and iterative refinement) and version control systems (e.g., git/GitHub)Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and analyticallyDemonstrated strong leadership and excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, as evidenced through effective cross-disciplinary partnershipsDomestic and international travel may be requiredLilly does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.#WeAreLilly
