Senior Formwork Designer

Job Description Working with AutoCAD (& in future BIM/Revit software) to produce concept designs, approval general arrangement drawings and fully developed working drawings to include assembly and production drawings. Ensures that the work is designed with available inventory and in accordance with the design brief. Show an active interest in helping develop the skills of your peers and the willingness to support the checking of their work. Communicate effectively with your colleagues across all departments and confidently interact with customers throughout all phases of a project. Develop independent solutions, but also work well within project teams Provide material lists for quotations to sales/customer and to operations for shipments to the site. Produce and insure that the drawings indicate the proper use of Doka forming equipment and that the drawings represent safe, economical and efficient designs. Independently produce formal calculations for customer approval. Have an interest in developing efficiencies within the Engineering Department and take a proactive approach of seeking responsibilities where opportunities arise. Qualifications Technical education, preferable a qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Good knowledge in AutoCAD 2D, an interest in BIM and/or experience in 3D would be beneficial Formwork design experience preferred. Alternative experience in temporary works, i.e scaffolding or ground shoring, would be considered. Detailed knowledge of construction methods and competencies in interpreting client drawings and design briefs Experience working on major projects and achieving challenging deadlines. Knowledge of formwork planning and coordination would be advantageous. A strong statics knowledge would be preferred. A good understanding of health and safety and designing out risks. Knowledge of method statements and design risk assessments Experienced in AutoCAD, knowledge of BIM/Revit would also be helpful, as well as computer applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
