The Communications & Media Officer will be actively involved in developing and executing a range of communications campaigns. Reporting to the Communications & Media Manager, the Communications & Media Officer will work in collaboration with the Communications & Marketing team to help grow the Abbey Theatre’s brand presence through traditional media. They will drive the Theatre’s connection to a variety of stakeholders, including the board, staff, theatre community, Department and Arts Council colleagues, media, supporters and donors. This will be executed through media and public relations, corporate communications, content creation and digital communications. The Communications & Media Officer will work closely with the Digital Engagement and Communications Officer. There will be some shared responsibilities between both of these roles to optimise team capacity and ensure an appropriate level of team flexibility and cover.This is an exciting time at the Abbey Theatre and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on high profile campaigns and with leading Irish and international artists. The right candidate will have an instinct for both internal and external communications, and the skills to deliver on pitches and effective media relations.RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties include but are not limited to:Communications & Media:Traditional media: Devise and execute impactful media campaigns to represent the Abbey Theatre’s plays, artists, visiting productions, related events and activities, and the organisation as a whole, nationally and internationally.Proactive media outreach and media relations, securing national, regional, local and specialist coverage of Abbey Theatre productions and events.Answering media queries and providing statements on behalf of the Abbey Theatre.Arrange and attend press conferences, media interviews, photoshoots / photocalls, filming sessions and any other related events as required.Briefing theatre-makers, Abbey Theatre spokespeople / staff for interviews and public appearances.Oversee media attendance at opening nights of productions, including stewardship of guests and red carpet photography. Digital media: Work alongside the Digital Engagement and Communications Officer on certain tasks.Draft copy for social and digital media.Schedule and send social and digital media content.Propose engagement strategies that will positively impact the growth of the Abbey Theatre’s online community, in line with key strategic plans and programming outputs.Occasionally support in the delivery of creative marketing campaigns. Corporate communications: Deliver corporate campaigns for the organisation, including leading on the delivery of the Annual Review, reports and the publication of data / results.Prepare decks and presentations on the artistic programme and brand.
