Apply today.     The Role.   GMC are currently looking for an experienced Electrical HV Design Engineer to join our team.  The successful Electrical HV Design Engineer will be supporting the delivery of projects across all aspects of the business from a construction point of view.     Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:   Responsible for running numerous projects within urban and rural environments, with particular attention to urban environments.  Experience with UK, US, Aus or Irish Water Standards (Potable & Foul) or Power Utility Standards.  Experience with MEICA (Mech & Elec), HDD and non-invasive methodologies.  Experience with structures, buildings, and general civils, associated with the Water or Power Industry i.e., Steel framed buildings, or RC structures.  Commercially aware of design costs and reporting to Commercial Department.  Experience with detailing cost to complete values, and claims narratives on a Design basis.  Liaising and corresponding with Client and Client Representative to continue with delivery of projects and building of relationships.  Design and Construct Experience with extensive knowledge of review of drawings with a high level of detail, for Value Engineering or Efficient Design.  Study design briefs and prepare proposed design packs from Concept to Detailed designs, with Input into Environmental, Archaeology and other associated aspects, as well as manage subcontracted and direct design resources.  Ability to produce low level programmes that are in line with contract requirements, which can be developed by Planning/Programming Teams.  Good leadership skills and communication with multiple levels of staff, departments, Clients, Suppliers and Subcontractors.  Ability to meet tight deadlines, and work on initiative to deliver packages within required timeframes.    The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:   Full clean driver's license essential.  A relevant qualification is desirable.  Minimum 3 years' experience in in a similar role within the construction or utilities sector.  Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) experience.   Confident, motivated and can work independently as well as part of a team.  Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.  Time management abilities to meet targets.  Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.  Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.    Become a part of something bigger.    At the heart of GMC is our people, from engineers through to customer service and we aim to work collaboratively towards our common goals.   GMC is an equal opportunity employer, and we aim to recruit and retain like-minded people from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of expertise.  In GMC we foster a work culture that promotes collaboration and learning, building an environment where our people have the capacity to maximise their potential whilst gaining the opportunity to continuously develop.     Our Future.   Since the founding of GMC in 1981 by Gerry McCloskey, GMC has grown to be Ireland's leading Civils and Utilities company and the future for GMC is bright.
