Coinbase is looking for a Head of Finance to provide detailed finance, reporting and accounting support for its regulated entities based in Ireland. The Head of Finance, Ireland provides effective financial leadership for Coinbase Ireland Ltd to grow value responsibly, in a profitable and sustainable manner. The Head of Finance fosters ethical and responsible decision making and robust management and corporate governance practices. The Head of Finance is also responsible for reporting accurate financial information in compliance with applicable accounting standards and more generally for Coinbase Ireland’s financial condition. The Head of Finance will be responsible for the companies’ economic and financial forecasting and planning, and will report to the Global Chief Accounting Officer in the US. We are looking for a candidate who has a positive attitude and is highly motivated to learn and grow within the organization, with a proven ability to thrive in a fast paced multi-task oriented environment. This position will play a crucial role in meeting our regulatory, financial and tax reporting obligations in Ireland. You will work and collaborate closely with many stakeholders across the organization, including regulatory compliance, finance, and data, tax, treasury and operations This role is a pre-approval controlled function (“PCF”) as defined in Section 21 of the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010: PCF-11 Head of Finance. All PCF candidates must satisfy Fitness and Probity requirements as specified by Coinbase Ireland and the Central Bank of Ireland before they can be formally appointed to the role. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): Acting as a primary senior contact point within the company for financial and accounting queries and queries from regulatory authorities relating to the finance function of the firm. Monitoring and overseeing the performance of outsourced service providers relating to the finance function. Overseeing the finance function in Ireland and ensuring finance processes operate effectively and accurately delivering accurate financial insights into the business. Carrying out financial performance analysis for the regional business and generate performance improvement proposals. Provide insightful and quality financial advice to support the company's business decision-making; Conducting regular industry analysis and business intelligence research. Responsibility for all financial reporting and monitoring, financial control and business forecasting. Assisting the Coinbase Ireland Chief Executive Officer to deliver reports to the Board. Overseeing liquidity management and taking on treasury management planning projects coordinating closely with the treasury team. Monitoring the safeguarding of customer funds in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and overseeing reconciliation procedures. Maintain proper books of account and ensure they correctly record and explain the transactions of Coinbase Ireland and at any time, enable the financial position of Coinbase Ireland to be determined with reasonable accuracy, that the balance sheet and profit and loss account comply with all applicable accounting standards, and enable the accounts to be readily and properly audited. Partner with the Global Accounting team to periodically prepare, update and review accounting policies, accounting estimates and adjust financial statements based on reconciliation results. Preparing financial statements and other related information for external use (audit, submission to regulators, etc.), and play a leading role in external communication as the representative of the Finance department. What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): 10+ years’ experience as a finance professional at a payment/e-money institution, bank, fin-tech, financial regulatory agency and/or professional service firm serving financial institution clients. Current or previous PCF-11 Central Bank of Ireland approved person Previous Board/senior management level experience, or demonstrated the ability to directly to the Board/senior management. Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (or an equivalent professional qualification such as ACCA). Experience in and understanding of payments, e-money or wallet products/services, banking functions, merchant processing Ability to communicate in a timely manner with the Board/senior management on financial performance and to provide high quality impartial information to enable decision making in a regulated environment. Ability to promote the company culture, values and behaviors and to ensure standards of performance are accepted and understood. Demonstrate thought leadership and market presence relating to best practice and innovation . Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of business functions, with an emphasis on senior management and a track record of performing in a management role. Project management experience is desirable but not essential. Excellent oral and written communication – fluency in English is a key requirement. Capacity to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards and effective time management. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment within a high growth business.
