Summary: The primary purpose of this controls position is to contribute to the profitability, continuity, and growth of Hollister Incorporated, by assisting in the continued development and support of the manufacturing processes in the Ballina plant. The main focus of this position will be to work in the area of design, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of the electrical & control systems of both new & existing equipment in the plant. From concept to debugging PLC programs, researching solutions for process issues, provide technical support to production while maintaining high-quality standards that meet Medical Device manufacturing requirements. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career development and to gain further experience within a highly automated and high volume regulated/medical device production process. Responsibilities: New Machinery Development (80%) – The position will provide specialised technical support and input into the development of new automated Machinery and Processes Collaborating with the project leader and key stakeholders to develop a detailed User Requirement Specification (URS) Collaborating with machine vendors and key stakeholders to develop robust machine design from a mechanical, electrical and controls perspective. Developing, tracking & communicating project plans for all control tasks, as well as being involved in taking part or leading machine improvement initiatives to increase reliability or productivity. Support qualification of new production equipment / processes and ensure compliance to quality standards through execution of protocols. Ensure safety compliance of control hardware/software and supporting both conduction and timely closeout of risk assessments. Process Support (20%): - The position will provide specialised technical support in the day-to-day operation of the assigned manufacturing processes, specifically supporting the various control systems. This work will involve troubleshooting problems encountered in the daily operation of the equipment, implement corrective measures to machine issues and propose preventative measures to prevent re-occurrence. Excellent communication liaising with external and internal relationships with stakeholders. Perform preventative and corrective control system maintenance, completing all associated paperwork including software change control and software records to ensure high levels of up-time. Provide training and mentoring to less experienced members of the team. This position will involve out of hours support when necessary. Qualifications: Academic/Credentials/Certifications Primary degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Computer science, Electrical engineering, or equivalent experience Length of experience 4-7 years’ experience working in a Controls/PLC highly automated manufacturing environment. Specialized skills/technical knowledge Solid understanding of PLC systems and programming Networking of computers and machines Pneumatic systems and schematics Motion control, robotics, servo and vision systems SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems Electrical standards, regulations, and safety procedures Basic electronics knowledge to understand design and aid troubleshooting.
