What the day will look like To deliver excellence in client relationships, retention and growth of existing accounts and provide robust client promise and development plans To promote an Aon United culture approach across the team, and drive strategies and practices to support a diverse workplace Maintain and promote a well-balanced risk management and compliance culture Work with the leadership team to improve and promote key ‘cultural’ characteristics of the wider team: enthusiasm, collaboration , client focus, innovation, accountabilit y Lead and develop a team; effectively delivering results through mentoring, performance management, talent and compensation reviews. Modelling strong leadership behaviours Compliance with regulatory requirements and business procedures and identify opportunities for process improvement Contribute to our global growth agenda through innovation and thought leadership New business growth and development, to include tender management and being part of bid teams as and when required Carrier management with key relationship colleagues Establishing key performance targets and financial budgets for Surety unit to optimise business performance in line with set objectives Recommend and implement action plans after reviewing Aon book of business and profit/growth results and trends. How this opportunity is different Aon Ireland is l ooking for a Head of Surety to establish and grow a n Ireland wide Surety Division. Reporting directly to the Managing Director in our Commercial Risk Solutions division, the primary responsibility of the role of Head of Surety is leading the Surety requirements for a portfolio of clients, identifying existing client opportunities in Surety, developing a business plan for prospecting Surety opportunities and utilising the best of Aon’s wider offering for our clients. The Surety Division will be a Specialty Line in its own right and part of the National and Specialty Division of Aon Ireland, headed by Managing Director, Damian Kilpatrick. This is a National Role and will be responsible for driving the overall success of our Surety portfolio. This leader will develop our strategy and deliver a collaborative value chain with our colleagues, customers and carriers. This is a meaningful role and requires advanced knowledge of Surety business and an influential oversight of strategic underwriting and broking practices. This role leads a large portfolio of clients nationwide and their surety requirements nationally and globally (inward and outward). Skills and experience that will lead to success A con sistent tra ck record in delivering results, product innovation, negotiating facility and renewal deals, securing new clients, and jeopardy account management. Align with the minimum competency requirements laid down by the Central Bank, including but not limited to Fitness & Probity standards A number of years recent experience within a commercial environment Progress towards the Chartered Insurance Institute examinations (ACII), with a minimum achievement of APA/CIP Detailed understanding of risk management concepts K nowledge of and practise of Surety Contract business with s trong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, accountancy regulations and guidelines Strong communicator and influencer – ability to effectively communicate, present and adjust messages accordingly to a variety of audiences. Strong internal and external communication skills, demonstrating ability to collaborate, lead and negotiate Strong accountability and validated ability to foresee and overcome setbacks and challenges to get results. Ability to work in a sophisticated global matrix environment with a mix of functional, business and geographic leaders.
