Building Services Consulting Engineer

Purpose of the Role   Savills Commercial Ireland are developing a new Engineering Design Consultancy (EDC) department that will work with the Energy & Sustainability team to assist our clients deliver on their decarbonisation and sustainability projects.   The role will focus on decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives at Savills and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise in sustainability building services design. Your primary objective will be to drive the implementation of cutting-edge, energy-efficient, and environmentally conscious solutions across construction and engineering projects both on new and existing properties. In addition you will work alongside Property Managers, Facility Managers and Building & Project Consultancy to assist in M&E design, operation and management projects.   Key Responsibilities Sustainable Building Services Design: Utilize your extensive knowledge of building services engineering, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and fire protection, to develop innovative, energy-efficient, and sustainable design solutions. Incorporate renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, and smart building technologies to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact. Ensure that all building services designs align with Net Zero targets and comply with relevant sustainability standards, green building certifications (e.g., NABERS, LEED, BREEAM), EU and national regulations. Collaboration and client engagement: Collaborate with project stakeholders, clients, architects, and other consultants to develop integrated and sustainable design solutions that meet client requirements and align with Net Zero objectives. To perform technical management duties across the Savills managed portfolio which will include auditing, meetings and technical support. To survey and prepare reports for property acquisition, dilapidations, licence to alter, condition reports, planned maintenance programmes, asset registers etc. To help develop an excellent M&E consultancy and "trusted advisor" service in line with the Savills brand; To develop and implement new lines of technical consultancy services to promote and enhance the service offering  as part of the Savills wider business and develop existing and new client relationships. To review and manage engineering business risk in support of property management instructions. Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in Net Zero building services design. Lead research initiatives to assess the feasibility and implementation of new sustainable solutions.   In addition to the tasks described above, other related duties may reasonably be required from time to time   Skills, Knowledge and Experience         Excellent M&E consultancy skills underpinned by appropriate professional qualifications and ongoing learning         Ability to prepare design, tender and construction stage documents and drawings.         Ability to manage contractors and engage with multi-disciplinary teams.         Ability to provide M&E works budget costs. (as some jobs won't have a QS involved).         Ability to assess M&E tender returns and provide recommendations to clients.           Ability to work within a fast-paced co-working team environment as well as being proactive and self-sufficient to meet deadlines.          Competent in AutoCAD/ BIM, design tools, Microsoft Office and Windows applications          Exposure or experience with SalesForce and/or accounts systems beneficial.          Excellent report writing, presentation & communication skills.            Ability to be flexible and to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.          High level of energy with lots of drive and enthusiasm   Requirements         Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering or related discipline.         Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
