As a Solar Roofer, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various types of roofs. Your role will involve working closely with our solar installation team to ensure the seamless integration of solar arrays onto rooftops while maintaining the structural integrity and waterproofing of the roof. Responsibilities: Solar PV Installation on Roofs: Install solar PV arrays on various types of roofs, including asphalt shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofs. Ensure proper alignment, mounting, and fastening of solar panels while adhering to manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Roof Inspection and Preparation: Inspect roofs prior to solar installation to assess their condition and suitability. Identify and address any structural issues, leaks, or damage that may impact the installation process or compromise the integrity of the roof. Flashing and Waterproofing: Install flashing and waterproofing materials around solar panel mounts, penetrations, and roof edges to prevent water intrusion and maintain the waterproofing integrity of the roof. Electrical Wiring Support: Assist with the routing of electrical wiring from solar panels to inverters and electrical panels, ensuring proper placement and protection of wiring to minimize the risk of damage and ensure compliance with electrical codes. Sealing and Weatherproofing: Apply sealants, adhesives, and weatherproofing materials to seal gaps, penetrations, and connections on the roof and around solar panel mounts. Ensure all seals are secure and watertight to protect against moisture intrusion. Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries during rooftop work. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection gear as required. Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize hazards. Collaboration with Solar Installation Team: Work closely with our solar installation team, including electricians, project managers, and other roofers, to coordinate installation activities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure project deadlines are met. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality inspections of completed solar installations to verify compliance with industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and company guidelines. Address any deficiencies or discrepancies promptly to maintain high-quality workmanship. Requirements: Roofing Experience: Proven experience in residential and/or commercial roofing installations, repairs, and maintenance. Familiarity with a variety of roofing materials and techniques. Solar Installation Experience: Previous experience with solar PV installations, including rooftop mounting systems, racking systems, and electrical wiring. Knowledge of solar panel installation best practices and industry standards. Understanding of Electrical Systems: Basic understanding of electrical systems and components, particularly as they relate to solar PV installations. Ability to work collaboratively with electricians to ensure proper integration of solar arrays with electrical systems. Safety Consciousness: Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures, especially when working at heights and on rooftops. Familiarity with fall protection measures and equipment.
