Design LeadThe Design Lead is a subject matter expert with exceptional skills in their field coupled with in-depth industry knowledge and experience. They help push a brand forward creatively whilst protecting its integrity, constantly thinking of new and innovative solutions to our stakeholders’ problems. In doing this, they unite and inspire. They lead strategic projects. They work closely with and manage stakeholder relationships whilst collaborating within the wider team. They move comfortably amongst multiple projects. They guide and mentor less experienced members of the team, leading by example in all that they say and do. The Design Lead is a critical link between the day to day lived experience of the team and the leadership. Your creative responsibilities Execution and delivery of key/strategic campaigns and projects Provide cover for the Creative Manager during planned /unplanned absence Second chair with Creative Manager on complex and strategic projects and/or contribute to strategic go-to-market and complex projects Lead creative briefs to get to the bottom on our stakeholders’ problems guiding them guiding on the best solutions to their visual communications problems Determine the project scope, including negotiating deadlines, creating and communicating timescales, budget constraints and escalate additional resource requirements to the Creative Manager Brainstorm and facilitate project kick offs with the team Drive quality and creativity by providing creative direction to more junior members of the team Lead the design team onboarding process (in consultation with the Creative Function Lead, Creative and Operations Managers) Promote the creative process to our stakeholders Have a user centric mindset to solving problems Position oneself as an EY Brand and Visual Identity expert Foster a creative culture within the team and in doing so unite and inspire them Maintain awareness of industry trends and technologies and bring new ideas to the team, or champion them from less experienced members Your operational responsibilities Display leadership and business acumen by anticipating client and project needs Demonstrate an understanding of the commercial objectives of the firm Where required, support the Production Co-Ordinator ensuring resources are effectively allocated Assist Creative Managers in recruitment as required Advise and work with leadership informing training needs across the design and Doc. Specialist team Act as Counsellor to L1 members of the team You will have the following characteristics and experience to succeed Creativity, vision, versatility and big ideas A good storyteller Analytical and insightful attention to detail A self-starter who identifies opportunities and potential problems – addressing them effectively and efficiently Strong business acumen and commercial understanding Works without supervision Organised and efficient multitasker A good communicator and cool under pressure A collaborator that knows the whole is greater than the sum of its parts Skills in visual design with a good sense of layout best practices Digital and print production guru Experience in all software relevant to their field A people person with excellent interpersonal skills Project management The ability to coach and develop other members of the team Able to handle the stress of multiple high-pressure deadlines and conflicting demands You must have 5+ years in-depth experience in an in-house team, agency or freelance A qualification in Visual Communications or related discipline A digital first mentality A solid design portfolio showing experience in executing projects of varied sizes Experience of producing supporting assets for varied digital assets, including interactive documents Experience in multiple print production techniques Experience of mentoring and coaching other creatives Excellent skills in primary Adobe CC applications specially InDesign A good understanding of Microsoft Office – especially PowerPoint An understanding of UX, UI and Design Thinking principles An ability to respond positively and calmly to shifting priorities, demands and timelines Demonstrate an understanding of business objectives and the impact they have on our outputs What we look forWe look for people who can add value by pragmatically applying their visual design knowledge.
