Job DescriptionThe purpose of this role is to perform various analytical tests on dairy, food, and infant formula samples using a variety of test methods and techniques in a busy INAB accredited food and dairy chemistry contract laboratory. This will include validation of equipment and test methods to meet customer requirements as required. Assist with sample handling, preparation and data entry and approval using LIMS. Ensure requirements of quality system, ISO 17025 and INAB are adhered to in all activities.Main responsibilities will include:Undertaking day to day effective, accurate and efficient processing of workload in the food chemistry laboratory and to perform tasks assigned by the Senior Laboratory staffAdhering to regulations and laboratory policies regarding health and safety and to maintain a clean and hygienic working environmentHandling and testing samples for various dairy and nutritional tests according to documented procedures, including attention to sample preparation, temperature control, storage and prevention of cross-contaminationMaintaining accurate and systematic records of testingTo have a sounds knowledge of relevant documents within the Quality system including SOPs, Quality Manual, and relevant methods applicable to the postHave an active role is developing the capability and range of testing provided by the Laboratory to support profitable growthReporting any faults to the Laboratory SupervisorParticipate in the training programme, undergoing further training as required and participating in schemes to ensure on-going competenceAdditional duties as required by the Senior Staff so to fulfil the requirements and demands of the laboratoryComplying with all aspects of Eurofins H&S policyUphold and maintain confidentiality at all times.QualificationsWhat we are looking for:Degree level qualification in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry or other relevant subjectPractical analytical chemistry and instrumentation experience (>1 years) ideally in a high volume contract laboratory or food industry is preferableTechnically minded with aptitude for working with InstrumentationVery strong technical, report writing, and statistical skills would be an advantagePractical analytical skills are desirable as well as theoretical knowledge of modern lab instrumentsRecord of ongoing professional developmentPrevious experience working within an accredited contract testing laboratory or food industry laboratory environment are preferred but full training will be providedThorough understanding of relevant quality system and accreditation requirementsGood keyboards skills and experience of LIMS Systems, MS Office packages in particular Excel.Good standard of written and spoken English and numeracy skills.Additional InformationWho we are looking for:Hard working self-motivated and ability to work on your own initiativeFlexible hours and working patterns, part time to full time hours availableAbility to work well under pressureInterest in / ability to research methodologyExcellent attention to detailAbility to multi-task, prioritize, organise and co-ordinate your own workloadGood written and verbal communication skills
