During term time you will work 3 days per week in our Laboratory learning on the job while spending 2 days per week with our education partner, SETU.Our Team:MSAT-Analytical Sciences and Technology are responsible for the analytical transfer, validation and remediation of methods to enable the Waterford site to bring in new products, while also providing analytical expertise to other sites within the network. The department is the first to source and implement new analytical technologies for the site.Application deadline: 28th June 2024Interviews held: July 2024Programme start date: 2nd September 2024About growing with us Learning OutcomesOn successful completion the apprentice will be able to:Knowledge:Understand the process of generating and reviewing technical documentation and proceduresUnderstanding the principles of cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) which are in operations in BiopharmachemUnderstanding the Quality Systems that are in place and their importanceUnderstanding change control systemsUnderstanding Safe Laboratory and Work Practices/MethodsKnowledge of the analytical lifecycle managementUnderstand the Audits processes E.g. housekeeping, Internal Supplier, Regulatory and Customer auditsKnowledge of the variety of testing involved in raw material, in-process, finished product and stability samples and how to conduct same in accordance to predetermined specificationsKnowledge of maintaining PPE and the process of reporting defectsUnderstanding the correct labelling of laboratory reagents and samplesKnowledge “out of specification” investigations and “Lab Investigations Reports” processKnowledge of the purchase systems of QC consumables and liaising with approved suppliersUnderstanding the various steps in the production process – upstream and downstreamKnowledge of calibration of laboratory equipment as requiredSkills:Operating company equipment and instruments effectively and according to standard operating proceduresAbility to work in a safe manner within a laboratory and work settingAbility to perform a wide range of chemistry techniques to include but not limited to the use of Pipettes, Auto-Titrations, Ph, weighing, diluting to volume, Volumetric calculations, Karl Fischer, Thin Layer Chromatography and physical testing, HPLCAbility to handle all laboratory and production materials and other materials according to safety instructions and analytical methods so as not to endanger him/herself, others or the environmentSoft skills:Communicate effectively using a full range of skills: speaking; listening; writing; body language; presentationWork and interact effectively within a teamWork independently and take responsibility for initiating and completing tasksUnderstand impact of work on others, especially where related to diversity and equalityTime management and ability to complete work to scheduleAbility to handle change and respond to change management processesAbout youEntry requirements:Pass (minimum Grade 06) in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects two of which must be math and a science subject250 CAO pointsOrLevel 6 Qualification in a related disciplineOrMature studentPursue .
