Job Title:                                 Family Support Specialist,Location:                                 Administrative Base:  Tullamore.  Operational area:  Midlands Region (Longford, Westmeath, Offaly and Laois)Report to:                               Service Co-ordinatorObjective:                               To develop and provide evidence based supports for families in the Midlands Region associated with familial drug & alcohol use.   Main Responsibilities:To work directly with people who have been impacted by familial/significant others drug and/or alcohol use.To provide formal assessment, key working, case management and care plan development supports to family membersIdentify and deliver evidence based interventions and models of best practice in relation to family supportWork with all service users, developing professional relationships, gaining their trust and respect and deal with difficult or problematic situations in a sensitive manner and within the framework of the organisation’s policies and record such incidents as appropriate.Engage with service users with a person centred approach, exhibiting professional boundaries while ensuring the values and ethos of MQI are upheldMonitor and support service users ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and that links are being made with the appropriate internal and external services.Establish  and support peer led Family Support Groups in each of the target counties  2.0 Data and RecordingProduce standard monthly and quarterly reports for the Service Co-Ordinator and/or Deputy Head of Operations in line with funding agencies requirements and compile any ad hoc information requests relating as required.Compile and report on complaints and compliments received as requiredResponsible for ensuring that statistics/data are kept updated on the CRM system at all times and provide reports to the Service Co-Ordinator in keeping with all required deadlines and on an ad hoc basis as required.Responsible for maintaining a complete, accurate and up to date record for each treatment episode on the HRB on-line web based system   3.0 Partnership Working and Service DevelopmentIdentify potential gaps to support families in the Midlands Region and problem solve in conjunction with other services impacted by drug and alcohol useBuild relationship and work formally with service providers and local community stakeholders to support familiesSource and organise external supports to address specific issues that may arise for family membersBuild a rapport with service users and advocate where appropriateAgree the action plan with the Service Co-Ordinator to deliver the Family Support Strategy in line with Funder requirements.Support the Service Co-ordinator to respond to strategic priorities for the region.Promote the service within the region attending relevant networks, forums and open days as required  4.0 GeneralTo undertake projects as assigned by the Service Coordinator and/or the Manager/Head of ServicesHave a flexible approach to the work in response to organisational change, development and review of best practice.To work and engage with other team members, support colleagues, participate in meetings as required to ensure effective working relationships and delivery of a cohesive service.Reporting to the Service Coordinator for individual support, supervision, performance appraisal working within the parameters of the MQI, HR and H&S policies and proceduresTo assist in the recruitment, induction, supervision and retention of volunteers and placements.To provide support to the Fundraising Team in relation to any events being held in connection with the service.Ensure compliance with organisation policies and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of services and maintenance of quality standards including:Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.  Person SpecificationRequirements for the role:Minimum level 7, 3rd level qualification in Social care/Social studies or in a related field (Essential)2 years + frontline experience in a role which supports the understanding of family members living with substance misuse (Essential)Experience of group facilitation (Essential)Knowledge of family (parenting) programmes such as Triple P, SFP, parenting plus etc. (Essential)Knowledge and understanding of National Drug & Alcohol Strategy and National Drug Rehabilitation Framework (Essential)Full Clean Drivers Licence (Essential)Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based family support approaches such as 5-Step and CRAFT (Accreditation desirable)Experience of setting up/developing programmes in an area and the use community development principles (Desirable)Knowledge and
