In this role as a Patent Paralegal, you will: Review patent correspondence and extract relevant information, Initiate filing of EP and PCT applications, including preparing complex legal documents for such patent filings & ensuring legal requirements are met for filings, Deal with formal requirements such as preparing and filing of subsequent documents with the European Patent Office (EPO), Maintain records related to the prosecution of patent applications, including tracking case status, preparing responses, docketing deadlines & managing communications ensuring accuracy, Support special projects related to our worldwide patent portfolio, Work collaboratively and positively providing comprehensive and professional paralegal support with internal patent attorneys, patent agents, and international law firms utilizing in-depth knowledge of foreign patent rules and requirements, Actively establish strong working relationships, freely share information, and collaborate with IP and Legal department personnel in Ireland and worldwide, Update policies and procedures to accommodate changes in internal accounts and legal considerations, Ensure compliance with patent handling procedures, Provide other support services such as organizing travel and meetings, preparing reports and presentations, and providing backup to other Patent Paralegals and docketing personnel, Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork through willingness to attend evening meetings 1 day a week to coordinate with teammates across time zones, Benefit from the company’s commitment to supporting their employees with professional development. Requirements: 2+ years in a similar role, Extensive experience with and knowledge of EPO applications, such as EPO Online Account, CMS, EPO filing software, EPO Mailbox, The ability and willingness to learn new software applications, Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and intellectual curiosity, Strong desire and flexibility to work with an international team in other time zones, Adaptable, open-minded, and efficiency-oriented, Extremely organised, eye for detail and ability to manage workload & prioritise, Collaborative, with willingness to share information and facilitate others’ success, team-oriented mindset, Confidence to diplomatically share contrasting opinions and ability to productively disagree with colleagues to find the best solution to improve processes, Strong organisational and time management skills to handle patent portfolio cases and deadlines efficiently. Highly desirable: CIPA IP Paralegal qualification is highly desirable. Previous experience as a Patent Paralegal or a background in Intellectual Property patent prosecution would be an advantage, Experience with Anaqua or other docketing systems, Patent research skills, including working knowledge of online research tools in PAIR, Espacenet, PATENTSCOPE, and other foreign patent office database.
