While there are challenges ahead, we are dedicated to supporting our consumers and colleagues, to rethinking power generation, and to supporting an affordable and fair transition for all.Role PurposeAs a key member of the EHS team, reporting to the Manager of EHS, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a project-specific Construction and Operation Health & Safety programme. You will identify possible work-related safety issues and risks on projects, with the purpose of designing appropriate solutions to prevent issues from arising. You will plan, lead and drive construction and operational safety improvements and assure that the company is compliant with workplace safety regulations and parent company standards.About the RoleSafety Leadership: Positively and pro-actively instil a HS&E culture, which supports the EHS strategy in Bord Gáis Energy for continuous improvement, embedding a zero-harm philosophy and creates a work environment operating to the highest safety standards. Ensure full compliance with local and national Health and Safety legislation pertaining to project construction phase. HSE Management: Ensure correct procedures and controls are in place on the projects in compliance with Centrica standards, continuous improvement, industry best practice, HSE legislation and other relevant and best in practice standards. Ensure the company is undertaking its required duties under the Construction Regulations. Planning: Take a leading role to develop the project Health, Safety and Environmental plan for pre-construction, construction and commissioning phases ensuring an effective plan is in place in compliance with Centrica and local regulatory standards.PSDP/PSCS: Oversee the appointment and implementation of the Project Supervisor Design Process and where required Project Supervisor Construction Stage and ensure activities are being undertaken, risks captured and mitigated.Risk Management: Ensure effective HSE risk management process is implemented on the project and that risks are being captured, assessed and removed/mitigated.Safety Training: Co-ordinate the development and delivery of safety training, workshops and awareness briefings in consultation with site construction management teamProject Safety Plan: Responsible for the development of the project site safety and environmental management plan. Ensure this is communicated with all Centrica personnel, sub-contractors and relevant stakeholders. Monitor and update as project progresses. HSE Assurance and Audits: Provide assurance to head of EHS, that all activities fulfil obligations under H&S and environmental legislation. Establish a process of active health and safety monitoring through audits and inspections of site conditions and contractor activities. Undertake frequent HSE site visits, highlighting areas of non-conformance and improvement. Develop HSE improvement action plan with the project team and monitor execution. Ensure continual improvement and develop, in conjunction with the head of EHS, that HSE targets, objectives and KPI’s are reported.Monitoring and Reporting: Collate and monitor HSE performance and produce report against the relevant KPI’s for senior stakeholders. Co-ordinate the investigation of incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented.About YouExpert knowledge of construction health and safety principles with proven technical skills in occupational safety and health disciplines, with experience in a related role.Expert knowledge of HSE legislative framework in IrelandHSE qualification relevant for the role e.g. NEBOSHAdditional Construction/Engineering qualification would be advantageous.Knowledge of working in the Energy and Industrial construction sector with HSE management related to power generation or industrial projects would be advantageous.Experience in project due diligence would be advantageous.Barrier-based root cause analysis training (Sologic or equivalent)Incident investigation experience in a recognised method i.e., TopsetHSE Auditor qualification preferred (ISO 45001 and/or14001)In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary, generous annual leave allowance, and a host of other benefits, including volunteering days with our charity partner, Focus Ireland.
