Calor Gas currently have a vacancy for a permanent full time Trainee Accountant, based in our head office on the Long Mile Road, Dublin 12. The successful candidate must be interested in obtaining a professional accountancy qualification. Full support and assistance will be provided to achieve this qualification. The primary purpose of the role is to provide support to the Financial Accountant to ensure financial operations are run efficiently, accurate monthly financial reporting and adequate monthly ledger controls are in place. The role requires the ability to identify trends and to propose appropriate changes to processes and procedures as we look to streamline and continuously improve our processes.   Main Responsibilities: As part of the finance team at Calor you will have responsibility for the following:  ·         Provide support to enhance risk and control environment ·         Assist the Financial Accountant with monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliations along with regulatory and group reporting to ensure its timely completion ·         Assist the Financial Accountant with the year-end financial statements and tax returns ·         Maintain the Fixed Assets Register of both Calor Teoranta and Calor Gas Northern Ireland Limited ·         Responsible for the reconciliation and posting for rebate accruals and consult with Accounts Payable (AP) on month end accruals ensuring they are sufficient ·         Responsible for the reconciliation of month end non-gas inventory valuations ·         Complete bank and SHV Treasury bank (in-house bank) reconciliations for both Calor Teoranta and Calor Gas Northern Ireland Limited ·         Responsible for intercompany reconciliations (SHV Gas Supply & Risk Management (SRM), other business units) ·         Establish and regularly review best practice Finance department policies and procedures ·         Responsible for the reporting, reconciliation, payment and returns of all statistical and government department reporting along with indirect taxes including VAT, Carbon Tax, excise duty ·         Liaise as required with internal and external auditors, banks and other key external stakeholders ·         Provide assistance on monthly expenses reporting and on ad hoc reporting requests ·         Assist the Financial Controller and Financial Accountant with ad-hoc Finance projects and departmental initiatives   The Person Specification: Education requirement to complete this role: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field Experience Level: The ideal person for this role will have a desire to qualify as a professional accountant (CA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA). Some prior Finance experience would be an advantage. Requirements ·         A self-motivated finance professional with aim of becoming a qualified accountant ·         A “hands on” detail-oriented finance professional student focused on accuracy ·         Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure ·         Ability to leave accounting software (Business Central) and advanced proficiency in MS Excel. ·         Interested in enhancing department processes and procedures ·         Confident communication and negotiation skills – Must be professional yet assertive when required ·         Demonstrate skills to prioritise lity to take on challenges as opportunities to find a better way ·         Demonstrated high level of analytical thinking and a dynamic and hardworking personality Benefits SHV Group is the largest dedicated global LPG distributor in the market.
