We have been operating in Ireland since 1946.Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill CavanAbbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name “Similac”. To complement the range of “Similac” infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow on formulae under the brand name of “Gain”. The essential ingredient is liquid skim milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada. Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland supply quality milk to the Cootehill facility which processes 500,000 litres per day. This secure supply together with Ireland’s reputation as a green, clean environment is of significant strategic importance to Abbott Nutrition.We currently have a role for Maintenance Fitter and this role will involve the following:Primary Function / Goals / ObjectivesTo maintain Plant and Equipment at Optimum performance and provide utilities to Manufacturing Department and General Plant to achieve yearly plan.Follow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.Report any current or potential hazards to your immediate supervisor/dept. manager immediately.The correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) must be worn at all times. Consult the appropriate SOP where required.The Fitter is responsible for consulting any SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.Perform maintenance tasks across a 12 hour shift pattern that will include nights and weekendsHousekeeping is a critical function of all jobs, and the Fitter is expected to ensure all housekeeping activities are observed and carried out appropriately. It is important that the Fitter is in adherence to the Housekeeping SOP.It is important that cGMP is a main priority in any operation carried out in this job function.Carry out maintenance and trouble shooting on plant and equipment.Carry out installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.Use diagnostic tools for condition monitoring of Plant and Equipment.Carry out engineering work orders in a timely and safe manner while maintaining adherence to cGMP and full compliance with procedures.Complete all work order forms in full.Carry out plant preventative maintenance programme as scheduled.Fully complete all P.M’s plant forms.Follow correct procedure when carrying out hotwork & confined space entry ensuring work permits are fully complete and in compliance with SOP’s.When working on equipment ensure the correct lockout – tagout procedure is adhered to.Ensure adherence to Working from Heights Code of Practice is followed.Develop in-depth working knowledge of all plant equipment.Maintain equipment in utilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.Assist in the development and training of apprentices.Perform a detailed hand over of work to colleagues when shift completed.This Job function will change where update procedures to cGMP, EHS, Technical / New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP’s are made.To complete training and review of SOPs on compliancewire.To support plant on all business excellence activities.Print forms from Teamcenter as required. This list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible where this need arises.Major ResponsibilitiesTo maintain Plant and Equipment at Optimum performance and provide utilities to Manufacturing Department and General Plant to achieve yearly plan.Minimise downtime in production and utility areas.To install, inspect, adjust, lubricate, troubleshoot and repair all plant and equipment. To perform routine PM checks on equipment and maintain plant at optimum performance.Supervisory/Management ResponsibilitiesNot ApplicableEducation RequiredHave a recognized mechanical apprenticeship.Senior or junior trades certificates in mechanical craft.KnowledgeProven track record or demonstrated ability in mechanical field.An ability to read diagrams and troubleshoot equipment.Six months on the job experience.Ability to work on platforms, scaffolding & ladders.Good mental ability to logically follow a line of though for problem solving.Basic Computer SkillsAccountability / ScopeIncur downtime and inability to produce product.
