Enteral feeding (also known as tube feeding) is a means of providing nutrition to people who cannot obtain nutrition by swallowing. Enteral nutrition contains all the calories and vitamins a person needs.PURPOSE OF THE JOB:Provides QA and technical support to Abbott Nutrition Third Party Manufacturers (TPM), TPM Operations, affiliates and other AN stakeholders.The Quality Project Manager will be responsible for one or more specific TPM accounts within the International TPM portfolio;Identifies and resolves quality issues for AN TPM products related to design, manufacturing quality programs and product start-ups at TPM’s;Provides support to global nutritional and NPI project teams;Identifies and help resolve key quality issues;Ensures compliance and continuous improvement of audit and metric performance;Responsible for overall quality and safety of Abbott Nutrition products manufactured at those facilities;Assures Ingredient/packaging supplier approval and compliance at the TPM.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Manage the agreed and assigned (office, team and personal) Goals and Objectives.2. Establish a robust long term working relationship, and ensure ‘Business As Usual’ activities are carried out within the agreed targets with the assigned TPM’s.3. Work with project management on global nutritional project teams as assigned (e.g. New Product Introduction projects, Margin and Profitability Initiatives and Ingredient/packaging projects, to identify key quality issues and support product launches in various global markets.4. Utilize understanding of QA systems and problem solving tools to provide alternative solutions to quality issues.5. Develop, implement and improve quality systems at the TPM’s, which ensure:AN policy and regulatory compliance.Initiation and review of Quality DocumentationQuality and Safety of AN productsSatisfactory performance on Metrics requirementsTraining as required for Abbott Quality systems.6. Support disposition of product batches, facilitate investigations, troubleshoot and resolve quality issues in close cooperation with the AN TPM Operations team.7. Coordinate the vendor program at the TPM. 8. Work with suppliers and TPM’s to resolve issues. 9. Initiate and facilitate specification reviews/changes as required. Initiate policies, procedures and systems that will ensure vendor program requirements are met.EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:A bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or technical discipline is required.A master's degree in science or business is preferred but not required.Five to seven years in a nutritional or dairy food manufacturing environment in a quality or operations function.Strong knowledge of food cGMP and nutritional regulations is necessary.Success will depend on good problem-solving abilities and a strong knowledge of nutritional manufacturing controls and quality systems. This position will independently interface with Abbott affiliates and TPM’s. Success will depend on leadership's ability to identify and correct quality issues through effective communication and strong interpersonal and presentation skills.Typical issues involve cGMP, formulation, process control and fitness for use criteria.Disposition decisions are based on risk assessment, using strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.It is expected that approx. 15% of the time will be spent travelling to international locations.
