People Moving & Handling Instructor Full-time, permanent contract   JOB RELATIONS: The People Moving & Handling Instructor will report to the Home Support Service Manager or designate and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within our Home Support Service and broader Clarecare structure.    DURATION OF CONTRACT:  Full-time, permanent contract of employment. DAYS/HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 9.30 a.m. - 5pm daily (inclusive of 30 mins daily break) i.e. 37.5 hours per week. These positions may involve evening or weekend work (as required) and flexibility is required regarding your days/hours of work to ensure operational requirements are met.   ANNUAL LEAVE: Annual Leave entitlement is 26 days per full leave year (Jan-Dec) for full-time staff. This entitlement excludes Public Holidays.   JOB LOCATION:  Th e office base for these positions is currently in Ennis, Co. Clare. This is an on -site position both in the office and delivering services in the community. Hybrid/remote working is not applicable to this role. The successful candidate may, if required, be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer/Home Support Service Manager or designate to Clarecare's other places of business/centre locations. You will be given as much notice of any such change of place of work as is reasonably practicable.  TRAVEL FOR WORK:     The successful candidate will be covering cases across Co. Clare as and when required, therefore, flexibility and willingness to travel is essential. It is essential that suitable candidates have access to a motor car and must indemnity Clarecare on their private motor insurance policy. You may be required to work outside of normal hours if necessary.   RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: General Responsibilities:         To be accountable to the Home Support Service Manager or designate whilst also operating as part of the wider Clarecare structure.         To adhere to Clarecare's policies, procedures, protocols in relation to all work within Clarecare.         To store and maintain accurate, confidential records in accordance with legislation and the Home Support Service practice protocols and to comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR).         To effectively use Clarecare's Data & HR Management IT system for case management and time/attendance recording. To complete and submit statistical information in a timely manner as required. To work as part of the wider Clarecare structure and carry out duties as required. To support the work of staff, volunteers, students and others involved in Clarecare. To participate in team meetings and attend meetings as deemed necessary. To attend and participate in case management meetings and supervision with the Home Support Service Manager and broader organisational structure. To attend and participate in supervision meetings, mandatory training/continuing professional development and learning opportunities.         To maintain professional boundaries in all work with colleagues, service users and external parties.         To perform such other duties appropriate to the position as may be assigned to you. Specific Responsibilities: Working within the Clarecare Home Support Service and wider organisation structure, specific responsibilities include:         Develop manual/people handling training programmes to include lesson plans with clear objectives, appropriate materials and aids to support learning and strategies to motivate changes in manual handling/people handling practice.          Deliver manual/people handling training & refresher training programmes to the wider Clarecare organisation and its staff e.g. Day Centres, Bushypark Addiction Treatment Centre, Family Support Service etc. at times of Induction Training/Refresher training, etc.         Identify the necessary organisational resources needed to plan and support the delivery of effective manual handling & people handling training programmes.        Apply the main principles of manual handling / people moving & handing to a range of manual/people handling tasks with particular emphasis on the need to carry out a personal or dynamic risk assessment to determine if the load or service user can be handled safely.         Be knowledgeable and adhere to people handling risk assessment processes.         Carry out and evaluate manual handling/people handling skills assessments of Home Support Workers and other staff in Clarecare and provide feedback on same/rectify any anomalies.          Arrange and perform community risk assessments, training and reviews in the home of Home Support clients throughout Co. Clare who have moving & handling issues (e.g. transfers using hoists, wheelchair users, showering, etc) and ensure effective reporting back to relevant Serviced Manager and/or third parties (where appropriate).           Ensure the safety of the client and Home Support Worker in relation to Manual/People Moving & Handling.         Participate in providing personal care for the client if required during a moving & handling assessment and training session in the client's home.         Review Home Support Worker's skills in the workplace and make relevant recommendations to the Home Support clients and Home Support Workers if necessary.         Develop plan of intervention based on referral information and assessment of need.         Ensure thorough and clear documentation / records are made which are accessible and on file for future reference.         In conjunction with HR Dept. and admin support, organise and deliver in-house Manual Handling/People Moving & Handling mandatory training & refresher training to Home Support Staff and other staff employed by Clarecare services including volunteers. You will be provided with Admin. support to assist in ensuring full participation at training sessions.         Fully adhere to Clarecare's Manual Handling and People Moving & Handling Policy including Health & Safety / Risk Management and all other Clarecare Service Policies & Procedures.         Follow up with the HR Dept., re staff's non-attendance at training and assist with the maintenance of accurate training records/assignment materials and attendance sheets in line with GDPR protocols.         Facilitate training participants/staff in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to secure progression outcomes.         Collate and complete all administrative work related to the course delivery.         Evaluate Training and implement recommendations.         Formulate reports and maintain records (system and manual) is essential in this role. Therefore, computer literacy is essential e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, OneTouch.         Liaise with MDT - Public Health Nurses and Occupational Therapists and other Health Professionals in relation to equipment required for safe people moving & handling.         To attend all relevant client and network meetings.          Contribute to research, audit, review and evaluation of the service as required.          Attend any other training relevant to the role/Clarecare as and when required.     REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION Essential Requirements:         Current certification/qualified as Manual Handling Instructor (QQI Level 6)   and People Moving & Handling Instructor (QQI Level 6) - provide proof of same.          AND         Have a minimum of 1 years relevant experience ideally gained in a Healthcare/Social Care Setting where you design and deliver effective manual handling & patient moving & handling training in the workplace.         Excellent knowledge of relevant literature and research in the Healthcare sector, evidence-based practice essential.         Well-developed group facilitation skills.         Experience liaising with staff from multi-disciplinary backgrounds in order to promote safer handling practices, optimal practice in people/client care delivery and ensuring excellent communication.         Experience of reviewing clients with moving & handling issues (e.g. transfers using hoists, wheelchair users, showering, etc) in a healthcare setting or equivalent would be a distinct advantage.         Experience of assessing clients social, emotional and physical care needs desirable.         A good knowledge and keen interest in health & safety in the workplace and risk management processes/procedures.         A good knowledge and understanding of the ethos of Clarecare and the service it delivers to Home Support clients.         Ability to demonstrate understanding of issues/dilemmas which may arise for vulnerable persons and a desire to work with older people.         Well-developed IT skills essential - MS Word, Excel, Email, Databases. Experience of using OneTouch is a distinct advantage.         Ability to communicate appropriately with service users, staff and other statutory and voluntary agencies.         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.         Demonstrate the ability to provide quality, person centred services engaging directly with older persons through the use of evidence-based interventions.         Experience of liaising with services and advocating on behalf of service users.         Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with service users, team members and other statutory and voluntary agencies.         Demonstrate flexibility and excellent organisational skills as the role requires the capacity to work in a demanding post; managing time, commitments and priorities effectively.          Well-developed report writing skills.         Well-developed computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office, MS Outlook (emails), Spreadsheets and Databases (Care Management Systems e.g. OneTouch system).          Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team in a fast-paced working environment.         Ability to maintain the principles of confidentiality in all areas of work.         Ability to work as part of a team and to use one's own initiative when required.         Ability to foster good working relationships with internal staff/external agencies and organisations.         Maintain and submit annual membership of the relevant accredited body as per Clarecare policies and procedures.          Ability to always maintain professional and personal boundaries and adhere at all times to Clarecare's Guidelines & Code of Conduct for Staff and other policies/procedures.         Well developed facilitation and group work skills with excellent organisation and planning skills.         Ability to maintain the principles of confidentiality in all areas of work.         Full clean driving licence with indemnification to Clarecare on your private motor insurance policy is essential.         A positive 'fit to work' medical.          A positive Garda Vetting Disclosure through Clarecare.         Two positive employment references from current/most recent employer(s).
