We are always striving to be better. We are hiring a Group Accountant to join our Finance Team at Keelings. Why Keelings? Keelings is a private family-owned company and has been in existence since the 1930's. The company has grown substantially in recent years and now has operations in Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe and Latin America employing approximately 2,000 people. Keelings primary activities are the sourcing, importing, marketing and distribution of fresh produce from sources around the world to the Irish, UK and European markets. Keelings is also a large grower of fruit in Ireland, Costa Rica and Brazil.   This role is within the Group Finance function. The successful candidate will play a key role within areas of the Group Finance function such as Governance, internal audit, Grants and assisting on M&A activity. This role will interact with middle and senior management and will offer exposure to a variety of tasks. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious qualified accountant to learn and get exposure to many financial aspects of a large fast-moving business.     Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: Duties will include some of the following tasks but may be subject to change: Key member of Governance Steering Group with responsibilities for completing in depth reviews and summarising findings back to Group as well as to Executive and Board Lead on Governance controls and updating of Financial Control policies across the Keeling Group as it grows into the future. Responsible for ensuring balance sheet reviews of all group operating companies once per quarter Lead on in depth control reviews during the year as requested by Steering Group / GFC / CFO Be a lead player in the area of grants. Co-ordinate the assistance of external specialists to help identify available grants and co-ordinate the retrieval of these grants across the entire Keelings group. Be the group support to operating companies on M&A activity initiated at opco level Prepare brief financial appraisals on potential M&A targets identified by Exec / Board Prepare status updates to Executive and Board on ongoing acquisition activity once a month Approving supplier payments and payroll payments. Assist with year-end audit and tax work. Ad hoc projects and systems work. To actively promote health & safety standards, engage in implementing health and safety protocols, and contribute to a risk-free work environment for all , playing a crucial role in mitigating workplace risks and promoting the well-being of all team members.   Key Skills & Knowledge   Essential : Practice background with experience of audit and financial statements a necessity. Capacity to interact with senior management and other functional areas Good communication & presentation skills Previous experience of governance / internal audit would be a distinct advantage. Ability to work on own initiative and as well as part of team Ability to manage time and perform to strict deadlines. Attention to detail and a desire to complete work to a high standard is a prerequisite. Excellent IT skills required, experience of RPA and/or VBA an advantage but not required. Experience of SUN / Infor Accounting system an advantage.   Desirable: Ability to speak French, Portuguese or Spanish an advantage but not required. FMCG experience preferred.   Key Performance Indicators Deliver comprehensive insightful Governance reviews to Governance Steering group on alternate month basis Work with other members of the Group Finance team to ensure completion of quarterly balance sheet revies for all group trading companies Work with the GFC to ensure any required updates to Governance & Finance policies are processed and approved in timely manner Control Reviews as requested by Steering Group / GFC / CFO Complete financial appraisals and summaries are requested by executive on competitors and potential acquisition targets, assist in co-ordination of acquisition activity Monthly status updates to Executive and Board on ongoing acquisition activity Chair monthly Grant Forums and present updates to Executive, provide support to BU's when required to help identify and claim available grants   Education & Qualifications: Qualified Accountant Educated to degree level/Business Management/Economics Recruitment Process 1.
