<p>The Coombe Hospital is a national tertiary referral centre for specialised services including maternal and fetal medicine, neonatalogy, gynaecology and anaesthesia. The Hospital has a substantial academic portfolio in terms of multidisciplinary education, research and training. The Hospital hosts two University Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the National Cervical Cytology Training Centre and the Hub Centre for continuing Midwifery education in the Greater Dublin area; the Research Laboratory in the hospital campus is a leading European Centre for molecular biology research.</p> <p></p> <p>The Hospital is inviting applications for the following post:</p> <p><strong>Clinical Midwife Manager 2 -Community Midwifery Service 0.5 WTE</strong></p> <p></p> <p><strong>Overall job role:</strong></p> <p>The position of CMM 2 in the community is pivotal in the development and coordination of a woman-focused and midwifery-led care within our defined geographical catchment area and across the birth continuum. They are responsible for the co-ordination and management of community based services, alongside the development and promotion of the supported model of care (The National Maternity Strategy, 2016)</p> <p>Responsibility and oversight for community services includes midwife-led clinics, intrapartum care, the Early Transfer Home service and the team of midwives currently defined as the Domino team. The chief responsibilities include: resource management, staffing and their professional development, student midwife clinical education, facilitating communication and professional and clinical leadership and mentoring. The position holder carries 24-hour accountability for the midwifery service in the community. This includes the provision of evidence based care of women and babies, assessment of individual care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of pathways of care, and the setting and monitoring of standards of care. The Clinical Midwife Manager 2 is accountable for the day-to-day management of the community service and for the human resources working within the community.
