Bloomfield Hospital is currently inviting applications for the position of  Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry with a Special Interest in Neuropsychiatry or Psychiatry of Later Life for a permanent full-time role. Reports to: Clinical Director   Work Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, Ireland   Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (37 hours per week) with an on-call commitment   Mode of Working: On-site     About Bloomfield:   Bloomfield Hospital provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer`s, Parkinson`s and Huntington`s Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia and mood disorders. We are the only facility in Ireland that provides high level of specialised care for people with Huntington's disease. We also provide specialist palliative care to individuals with mental health needs. In Bloomfield Hospital there is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions which are evidence based to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. This care is delivered through a Multi-disciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy and General Practice. Bloomfield Hospital is a 123-bed in-patient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. We value each and every member of our team and believe strongly in supporting employee wellbeing and in the importance of a healthy work-life balance.     Roles and Responsibilities:   1.      Clinical, Leadership & Operational   Participate in the development and undertaking of all duties and functions pertinent to the Consultant's area of competence and in line with policies as specified by the Clinical Director. Work closely with the Clinical Director to support the development and delivery of operational and strategic plans. Advise the Clinical Director of clinical priorities and pressures, and be an active participant in strategic development discussions. Provide for and ensure the delivery of positive patient and resident outcomes and with the continued strive for excellence. Manage clinical team members as designated by the Clinical Director. Liaise with clinical colleagues, the Clinical Director, Director of Nursing, Medical Officer and other clinical disciplines to ensure that activities across the centre are appropriately co-ordinated and integrated. Develop new and innovative ways of delivering excellent clinical services. Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE and Mental Health Commission requirements. Ensure that a positive working relationship with external partners including Health Service Executive, Private Health Insurers and other Academic Institutions is maintained. Ensure that systems are in place to deliver accurately and in a timely fashion, all statutory information requirements including Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Participate in systems to provide clinical information to staff that enables them to benchmark and audit their practice so as to improve the patient and resident's experience. Communicate regularly with all staff in the Hospital. Facilitate the maintenance of professional clinical competence. Foster an open and inclusive style of working which facilitates positive relationships. Participate fully in Bloomfield's performance management framework. Ensure the highest standards of clinical effectiveness in the Hospital, including the delivery of local and national recommendations, including Mental Health Commission, HSE guidelines, College of Psychiatry of Ireland guidelines, and other national reports. Place and maintain patient safety at the centre of all activity. Maintain one's own professional competence and development to a high standard and demonstrate a proven record of undertaking C.M.E. and C.P.D. Assist the Clinical Director to ensure that appropriate medical cover is available at all times having due regard to the implementation of the European Working Time Directive.     2.      Teaching, Learning & Research Assist with collaborative teaching and training programmes or facilities in accordance with company strategy. Promote research activity and teaching in the Hospital in accordance with the organisation's strategic plan.   Who we are looking for: Full registration with the Specialist Register (Psychiatrist) of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland or entitlement to be so registered. Minimum of seven years post-grad experience. Registered as a general adult psychiatrist with a sub specialised interest in either Psychiatry of Later Life or Neuropsychiatry desirable. People management experience or position of additional responsibility to clinical area. Proven track record in leading change and developing clinical services. Energetic individual with solid experience of collaboratively working with a team of diverse clinicians, and strong knowledge of Clinical Governance. Play a key role in teaching, managing, coaching and engaging in the practice and education of medical students, medical staff, and other allied health professionals as appropriate. Have a good knowledge and experience of health, safety and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organisation.
