Business Analyst Crownsville MD Navitas Business Consulting is seeking a candidate with at least five years of experience as a business analyst at an organization where IT was the main product/service. Prior experience with eliciting and documenting business processes is required with the added ability to work within a team as well as working independently or under general direction.  This role would provide services, providing access to IT contracts, and performing IT governance and oversight functions, among others. The department has undergone significant operational changes by implementing a new business model and launching the Portfolio Office to manage the business relationships between DoIT and other agencies, as well as significant restructuring of service operations teams. These changes spawned new business and operational processes which are now in various stages of maturity and are largely inadequately documented. As part of a project to mature and improve those processes, DoIT is seeking the assistance of a competent Business Analyst resource. This resource will focus on operating as User Centric and will capture and document processes and practices within the various operational areas within DoIT. Responsibilities: Business Analyst (resource) will work on multi-office IT projects in support of the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) engineering, finance, HR and other .NET, Salesforce, COTS and SaaS (software as a service) applications as needed. Proven ability to work from project to project and keep organizational standards. Resource shall Interview various process stakeholders to understand DoIT processes and the business requirements which drive them Document existing DoIT processes and procedures and prepare meaningful and easily understood process diagrams using standard diagramming software such as Microsoft Visio, ability to wireframe projects from beginning to end Identify gaps in business operations where no formal or consistent process exists Analyze processes and recommend improvements for architecting new processes which address any identified gaps and increases process efficiency and effectiveness Present findings, recommendations, and work products to various stakeholders and groups within DoIT utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills in a well-organized fashion Resources may participate on project development of new systems and processes. Participation can include but is not limited to the following: Assist Project Managers or other identified stakeholders with requirement identification and scope definition. Comprehend basic to complex business issues translating business needs into understandable requirements. Facilitate requirements elicitation session(s) with stakeholders. Review and document existing (as-is) business processes. Develop and document future (to-be) business processes. Develop and maintain or assist in the development and maintenance of project documentation. Conduct a quality review walkthrough of business requirements documentation. Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business. A master’s degree is preferred. Preferred Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements analysis and documentation requirements of the agile software development SDLC. Experience and certification as an Agile Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) preferred. UX/UI Designer and Digital Services Cert. Experience and certification in Six Sigma process areas. Demonstrated knowledge of IT software requirements elicitation, documentation, and management. Prior experience preparing business cases or other writing project deliverables such as a functional requirements document or a requirements traceability matrix. Demonstrated knowledge of business process / workflow automation. Demonstrated knowledge of performing gap analyses. Prior senior level experience preparing and delivering informative, well-organized presentations. Breadth of knowledge in the Business Analyst Body of Knowledge (BABOK). Experience in working with Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite) collaborative productivity tools preferred along with Microsoft Visio. Resource shall assist in research efforts supporting related business analysis as needed.
