Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday Duration: Permanent (majority remote working available) Job Ref:  201952 About the role Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland , who are proudly part of  Benefact Group , are looking for a Technical Underwriter (Casualty)  to join our Dublin  office with majority remote working available.  Within this role you will act as the technical specialist with responsibility for profitable delivery of the Casualty Portfolio. Key responsibilities Develop the Casualty Portfolio through trading and profitably underwriting new/existing business within own authority and in line with Ecclesiastical strategy Develop, grow & monitor Casualty portfolio including provision of technical support to enable profitable growth aligned to current risk appetite. Actively grow Ecclesiastical’s market share in preferred sectors and assist in development of new areas of opportunity Provision of technical expertise across the Casualty Portfolio relating to Casualty wordings, underwriting guidelines, risk selection processes, technical pricing, risk appetite Provide detailed portfolio analysis to aid the understanding of Casualty Account performance, actively monitoring and managing the KPI’s across the portfolio identifying and taking action on unprofitable cases and / or segments Pro-actively identify areas of opportunity and issue and make appropriate recommendations contributing to strategy as required Act as a technical referral point for the Casualty Line of Business and cascade Casualty technical expertise to the Underwriting team and wider business Recommend timely changes to Casualty underwriting appetite, underwriting guides, pricing and wordings Develop and deliver suitable technical training to ensure that our underwriters and wider business fully understand the coverage and risks associated with the business we write and the relevance of each of the components of pricing Work in partnership with Product & Pricing in order to deliver product and pricing reviews as required Support Underwriting team and wider business in developing and enhancing relationships with brokers, customers and business partners to act as a Casualty specialist, demonstrating Ecclesiastical’s line of business knowledge and expertise Knowledge, skills and experience Proven track record at Senior Underwriting level in commercial Casualty insurance Detailed understanding of Casualty policy wordings, risk selection and pricing techniques Sound understanding of types and strategic use of reinsurance Commercial business acumen and judgement Excellent analytical and numerical skills Credible, with proven ability to build effective relationships and influence key stakeholders including customers, both internally & externally. Highly impactful strategic communicator and negotiator, able to interface with most senior levels internally and externally.
