PCO Manufacturing , a Pharmaceutical company based in North County Dublin, is a market leader in Parallel Importing and has established very strong client relationships with pharmacies across Ireland for almost 40 years. Due to their ongoing growth, there is now an opportunity for someone to join the management team as Head of Production and to contribute to the operations and manufacturing functions of the business. This role offers an experienced individual the opportunity to develop an efficient, progressive and quality focussed manufacturing and operational strategy for the business with vision and passion for the future on how the industry operates, the production of the various pharma product lines, and the smart management of goods through the process of goods inwards, manufacturing and dispatch to the customers. As a manager you will be expected to: Develop the operational strategy of the Production Function and manage the implementation of the plan across the Production &Goods Inwards teams Establish manufacturing performance metrics and goals which are achievable in line with the overall company strategy and goals. Support the Supervisory Team in managing the greater team of over sixty people. Represent the company in establishing and continuously growing relationships with business partners and vendors. Promote and lead out on initiatives of collaboration across the organisation, while contributing to the overall environment and leadership team. Work closely with the Quality Team to ensure that operational activities are GMP & GDP compliant at all times. Liaise with the Quality Team on assessing processes and people in terms of continuous improvement and development. About the role: As Head of production, you will be a member of the Management Team with operational accountability for the overall effective management and day to day operation of the Production & Goods Inwards functions. You will demonstrate strong leadership and nurture a culture of investing in the development of people and strong teamwork. Key Accountabilities Development of the strategic plan for the overall operational functions of the company. Establishing strong and effective processes and project methodology where all internal projects are structured, planned and delivered to the required standards and within budget. Ensuring that current and future processes are reviewed, implemented and maintained to the correct standards for each department. Develop strong working relationships with other functional managers and contribute to the future design and development of the company. Review, implement, and maintain robust processes and standards for Manufacturing withing a GMP environment. Work closely with the management team, to oversee and manage every stage of the Manufacturing process. Responsible for the operation of the Production function, delivering quality, high volume, value add operations in a fast-moving environment. Manage the related SLA and contractual agreements with vendors, partners and other stakeholders, and have responsibility of Risk Management within the operations area. Mentor and motivate direct reports and their teams to achieve productivity and engagement. Develop the overall skills and capabilities of the employees in the area, ensuring that there is a good cross over of transferrable skills that will be required for the future. Report on operational performance and identify areas for suggested improvements. Have responsibility for the overall compliance to all Health, Safety, and Environmental measures within the production function. Manage the budgeting and costs for your function. Understand the importance of best practice in a regulated environment and drive smart working models and agile practices. Skills and Experience Minimum five year experience in management of Operations or Production or similar management role. Strong people management experience and excellent interpersonal and communication capability. Extensive experience in people management and modern human resource practices Be a leader of teams and invest in the development of teamwork around you Previous experience working in a manufacturing, distribution or logistics environment, or similar. Hold appropriate qualifications in a related discipline and have a strong technical capability to ensure progressive development in how the operations of the business operates. Familiarity with general business management and an understanding of best practices within the business. Experienced at setting and achieving budgets and putting effective planning structures in place for all upgrades, systems investments and internal projects. Ability to creatively solve problems and implement continuous improvement processes across all departments. Detail orientated and methodical approach to working.
