The EHS Specialist will play a vital role within the EHS team and be the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders in relation to EHS matters. This role is based in Kildare. Responsibilities Support the EHS incident management process on site. Manage EHS incidents to closure, including root cause analysis and CAPA management. Support EHS risk assessments such as; area, chemical, ergonomic, new and or modified equipment, task based etc, and make recommendations to control hazards. Support with in-field audits and inspections of works. Supports the Site in terms of training, facilitation and coaching of EHS standards and protocols. Assist with the delivery of necessary EHS training including: EHS induction, EHS Permit to Work Procedure training, promoting safety culture etc. Provide necessary support to ensure successful implementation of and compliance with EHS protocols. Prepare for and participate in audits by corporate, regulatory, and accreditation bodies as required. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and company internal standards. Lead by example and role model good safety behaviour and environmental practices to develop and support a high performing EHS culture on site. Provide weekly and monthly updates / reports on work activities and progress against plans and objectives. Support and implement EHS management system and ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001standards. Conduct EHS risk assessments and associated employee and / or area exposure monitoring for both physical and chemical hazards. Provide recommendations for reducing or eliminating exposure to chemical hazards. Monitor and analyse data, identify trends and define focus areas. Perform EHS surveys in line with equipment sign off programs. Act as the SME (subject matter expert) in relation to assigned EHS programs. Assist and support accident / incident investigations and root cause analysis. Qualifications Third level Degree in a related discipline ie science, chemical or engineering. Minimum of 5 years relative experience within EHS field preferably from the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device or GMP manufacturing industries. Have a high level of technical and scientific competence, experience and knowledge in the application of the fundamentals of recognition, evaluation, control and prevention of occupational and environmental hazards. Ability to work in a team with minimum direction. Self-motivator who can work on one’s own initiative. A thorough knowledge of EHS legislation in relation to manufacturing. Have excellent communication skills. Have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Have experience and knowledge of EHS Management Systems and their practical application to industry. Knowledge of or experience with DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) would be an advantage.
