Key Responsibilities Maintaining throughout the hospital an awareness of the primacy of patient in relation to all hospital activities and maintain a clear understanding of the importance of providing a quality and safe service to all patients. Promote good communication within the haematology department through departmental meetings and other means Lead and co-ordinate scientific staff and/or support staff within their department. Prepare budget estimates including a planned programme for replacing capital equipment. Promoting a professional, punctual, and dedicated team with good open communications. Manage the Departmental staff resources ensuring that staffing levels and skill mix are appropriate and within the resources allocated. Departmental staff Requirements Must be registered with CORU Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Science from the Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT). Or Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biomedical Science, Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). Or Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course AND Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Practice. Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) AND BSc (Honours) Biomedical Sciences, University College Cork (UCC). (Awarded prior to 2013). Or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, (DIT) or the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) (Awarded prior to 1994). An equivalent qualification validated by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM). At least seven years full time clinical experience as a medical scientist in a clinical diagnostic haematology laboratory Benefits Adaptable and creative work schedules.  Enhanced Annual Leave.
