Data Engineer

We are in search of a skilled Data Engineer to join our proactive Group Analytics & Insights team to help us develop and maintain robust data pipelines, infrastructure, and analytics systems.   As a Data Engineer at The Irish Times, you will be essential in ensuring the availability, reliability, and scalability of our data infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and evolving both new and existing data infrastructures, adhering to stringent documentation standards, and managing deployment lifecycle procedures. You will also engage and cooperate with third-party vendors to advance our data initiatives. Key Responsibilities:        Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure to meet business requirements.        Develop and plan data models.        Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners to understand data needs and craft solutions.        Uphold strict processes for documentation and deployment lifecycle management.        Partner closely with the Group Data Analytics & Insights Director and Analytics Managers to promote data-driven decision-making.        Monitor data flow and quality to guarantee accuracy and consistency.        Implement data security and privacy protocols.        Support the transition to modern data technologies and uphold best practices.        Share expertise and provide mentorship to fellow team members. Requirements:        Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.        At least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer.        Profound knowledge and experience with Snowflake.        Familiarity with Data Ops pipelines.        Experience in handling large datasets and streaming data.        Advanced skills in SQL.        Knowledge of data governance and quality management.        Experience with ETL processes and tools such as ADF, Pentaho, Snowpipe.        Preferred: Familiarity with Power BI or similar, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Platform.        Proficiency in Python and R is advantageous.        Interest and/or experience in machine learning is a plus.
