Job DescriptionThe purpose of this role is to support the leading of an off-site Professional Scientific Services (PSS) team of analytical staff to ensure that team is operating at the highest quality and productivity standards, have high morale and retention, and the agreed client requirements are entirely satisfied and that client expectations are met or exceeded through effective leadership and quality operational management, under the supervision of the PSS Team Leader. This role will also include the performance of scientific procedures and produce accurate results within the required time frame under the customer quality system, using customer company procedures, and while adhering to company general policies and standards.Job ResponsibilitiesWork with the shift Lead to effectively coordinate and lead the PSS team so that productivity, quality, documentation, work schedules, safety and housekeeping are run at maximum efficiency.Performing routine and non-routine analysis, as requested by the Group Leader or customer representative.Preparing and approving results for tests in which they have received the appropriate training and are deemed competent.Support the development, coaching, motivation, and morale of team members through effective teambuilding and use of reward and recognitions systems celebrating team success. Management to ensure information is shared effectively and actions are taken immediately.Reviewing and approving all relevant documentation and technical data in a timely manner and ensuring that it communicated, documented, and filed accurately.Reviewing and improving commercial work practices. Identify areas where efficiencies may be improved and liaising with the PSS shift Lead and client appropriately about any proposed improvements.Ensuring that work is scheduled and cross training takes place as requested so that the service levels agreed with the client are achieved. Responsible for amending schedules in the absence of the PSS Shift Lead or as required and communicating those changes effectively.Support Shift Lead in carrying out performance appraisals with staff as part of the overall performance management programme within the organisation.Support Shift lead in continuous feedback to all members of their team on all items in relation to client or organisational requirements / changes.Write SOP’s, protocols, trending reports on an on-going basis, as required.Initiate and investigate non-compliance or out of trend/ specification situations in the laboratory. Liaise with Shift Lead to facilitate close out of Lab Investigations and Non-Conformances/Deviations.To address group local audit findings in conjunction with the PSS Shift Lead / PSS Group Leader.Qualifications A degree or diploma in Microbiology or a related discipline is required.At least 2 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical industry GMP laboratoryStrong familiarity with GMP and Microbiology.Good understanding of Chemistry is advantageous.Passionate about quality and customer service.Excellent communication skills (internally and externally) and understanding of appropriate client interactions.Willing to operate in a flexible manner and be able to switch priorities at short notice.Good team player, organised, accurate, have strong documentation skills.Additional InformationEurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company, providing a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, to make life and our environment safer, healthier and more sustainable.
