Home Care Assistant (Home Support)

<p>The Home Support Service within Older Persons Services works in partnership with service users and their families to enable people to remain at home where appropriate, who would otherwise need to be cared for in residential care. It is recognised that the Home Support Service is an essential support to family and informal carers.</p> <p></p> <p>The HCA (Home Support) is a key member of the Primary/Social Care Team responsible for the provision of a quality service to support people in the community to remain in their own home as long as possible who would otherwise need to be cared for in residential care. Caring duties specific to the client will be identified by the Public Health Nurse, Community Registered General Nurse (PHN/CRGN) Team. Client specific duties will be defined by the Home Support Resource Manager in consultation with PHN/CRGN Team and client. The HSCA will work as part of the local team, will be rostered to work on a 5/7 basis Monday through to Sunday as required, may be required to work split-shifts, will work assignments as allocated by line manager.</p> <p></p> <p><strong><em>To work under the direction of the Home Support</em></strong> <strong><em>Resource Manager to provide personal care services specific to the client’s needs such as:</em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Bathing</li> <li>Showering</li> <li>Dressing</li> <li>Mouth care</li> <li>Shaving</li> <li>Hair care</li> <li>Toileting (emptying and cleaning of commode, urinal)</li> <li>Continence care</li> <li>Mobilising</li> <li>Assistance with feeding</li> <li>Bed making where care needs requires</li> <li>To prompt client to take prescribed medications.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Informal Enquiries</strong></p> <p>Gillian Haran Connolly, Home Support Operations Manager, Markievicz House, Sligo</p> <p><a href="mailto:gillian.haranconnolly@hse.ie" target="_self">gillian.haranconnolly@hse.ie</a> or phone 087-7027432</p>
