Environmental Health & Safety Manager- Cahir , Co TipperaryOur client is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to join their management team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in further developing and implementing our EH&S strategy. You'll be responsible for overseeing EH&S practices, policies, and procedures at our two production sites in County Tipperary (Cahir & Clonmel). The EH&S Manager will ensure that our workforce is trained, safe, and working to mitigate risks, while driving continuous improvements.Environmental: Ensuring that the environmental and energy management systems are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with ISO & ISO . Management of the site’s operational licenses and compliance with same.Management of waste water treatment plant operations. Collate data weekly from the effluent treatment system and report on same – lab test results, flow readings etc.Support environmental site initiatives. Assist the operations team in the implementation of EH&S procedures and requirements. Provides environmental compliance advice and support to the operations team in terms of effluent / air / waste / energy / water management. Management of the sites Origin Green Programme and all monitoring and reporting metrics. Support the business in development of annual environmental objectives and targets that support the company’s overall sustainability strategy. Collating and reporting of relevant environmental metrics / KPI’s. Develop, support and delivery of training programs specially in terms of environmental compliance. Establish and embed waste management best practices into the culture and day-to-day activities. Ensure waste management controls are being adhered toHealth & Safety: Ongoing development and implementation of improved Health and Safety practices, policies, and procedures for each of the Oakpark sites. Further evolve and implement SOP’s for all jobs on both sites. Responsible for ensuring all personnel are fully safety trained and competent for the role including manual handling, fork truck, PPT, SOP sign off etc. Managing maintenance of staff records in an ‘audit ready’ state. Further develop and manage the site risk assessment program with the site management team to agree and manage prioritised programs to reduce risks. Lead on site Health & Safety improvement, awareness, and engagement programs. Keep up to date on regulatory health and safety requirements and keep management team updated on compliance needs.Co-ordinate internal and external inspection and audit programs. Represent the company during outside agency audits / inspections and liaise as required with regulatory agency such as the Health & Safety Authority. Develop and roll-out safety alerts and other ad hoc communications in line with the sites needs. Enhance, deploy, and manage the sites accident investigation and incident management program with the management team. Point of contact for companies’ insurers in relation accident/incident to reporting, auditing, and claims. Collaborate with colleagues and production teams in ensuring practices and procedures are fully adhered to and a culture of safety first prevails throughout our sites. Ensure all personnel are issued with appropriate safety PPE, and monitor use. Qualifications and Experience:Third Level qualification in a EH&S, science, engineering, or other related discipline.A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a EH&S role, ideally working in food manufacturing. Experience in working in a fast paced, results focused environment. Sound knowledge and practical experience of implementing EH&S legislation. Proficient in use of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint. Strong knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (ISO ), Energy Management Systems (ISO ), Origin Green and sustainability.
