In 2014, DePuy Synthes in Cork won the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence. Overview Provide a technical leadership role withing the technical operations department. Collaborating with global functions including R&D, Engineering and Operations. The position will be responsible for executing AM related engineering projects, ensuring optimum process capability and design for manufacturability in the development of new processes. The role involves providing technical leadership in the area of additive manufacturing, materials and Process Excellence to deliver advanced manufacturing processes for the implementation of next generation technologies and innovative processes. The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have: • Responsibility for executing Additive Manufacturing Engineering projects • Deliver feasibility and implementation of cost-effective material-related manufacturing solutions to drive engineering efficiencies • Provide technical leadership for product / process design reviews, risk assessments, supplier technical assessments and critical process changes • Scout new technologies and build business cases • Design develop and conduct feasibility studies to assess new technologies or process improvements • Facilitate root cause analysis and problem solving • Develop strategic collaborations across functions, business units and geographic boundaries to achieve effective long-term outcomes • Development of advanced materials related manufacturing processes from end to end within the supply chain, including raw materials, process design and optimisation • Provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities • Ensure all activities comply with GMP, ISO and quality system requirements • Ensure that all health, safety and environmental requirements are fulfilled. • Mentor and guide external researchers on collaborative projects • Interface with global academic Institutes in material science & additive manufacturing We would love to hear from YOU, if you have the following requirements: • BSc qualification (or equivalent) or MSc/PhD in Material Sciences or Engineering. • 4-6 years' experience within a medical device company or similar industry. • Project management experience essential (cert desirable) Desirable skills * Ability to take ownership/leadership of project teams/people leadership * Extensive statistical and problem-solving engineering expertise (Six Sigma, SE or A3) * Product and process validation experience * Experience of integration of R&D Programs into manufacturing operations This is what awaits YOU at J&J: This is an opportunity to work with a groundbreaking medical device operation and to be a member of a Johnson & Johnson company, with an excellent record in employee continuous professional development and business improvement.
