Your future role Take on a new challenge and apply your EHS knowledge and expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to Head of EHS for Ireland and work alongside adaptable, passionate and experienced teammates. You’ll bring a positive presence as part of your role, be confident in your decisions as a leader, work collaboratively with our Client, project team and subcontractors, proactively leading initiatives, being reliable, solving problems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business including the Customer, the project , engineering, planning and construction management team, the UK&I EHS function, and much more. You’ll specifically take care of the project EHS deliverables and ensure clear communication of any safety messages, alerts, return of experience. We’ll look to you to: Advise the Project, Teams on all EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) requirements in line with local legislation and regulations , Safety Health and Welfare at work Act 2005, Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction Regulations) 2013, Safety Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 – 2016, Railway Safety Act 2005. Provide support for & to monitor all aspects of Occupational Health & Safety, Quality & Environment specifically Risk Assessments and associated controls. Ensure that the relevant EHS requirements of AZDP (Alstom Zero Deviation Plan) are effectively applied on the project. Assist in the development and review of the EHS aspects of the following documents: Site Specific Safety Statement, Construction Stage Safety & Health Plans, Work Package Plans including Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS), Task Briefing Sheets / Toolbox Talks, Environmental Management Plans and Site Waste Management Plans Ensure EHS inductions are prepared for new projects and critical EHS information remains current including existing induction packs, posters, notices, signage, registers, procedures etc. Provide/obtain advice/guidance and giving assistance on general EHS matters. Carry out safety inspections in accordance with the company and project requirements and, where possible, close out actions within required timescales. Produce EHS objectives from reviews, findings and audits. Monitor KPI’s and other indicators (submitting to Client) on a monthly/period basis and provide data to the EHS Manager where required. Co-ordinate with the support from the project team, Accident investigations/Incidents/Near Misses/close calls. Ensure any Dangerous Occurrence and/or Reportable Accidents are promptly reported to the Health and Safety Authority as required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (reporting of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences) Regulations 2016. Liaise with the Customer, Client and external bodies as required – Iarnrod Eireann, Health & Safety Authority (HSA), Railway Accident Investigation Unit (RAIU). Champion close call reporting and assist the project in managing and monitoring project close calls to ensure that they are tracked, and the associated corrective actions are actioned to the specific person/department to ensure they are closed out adequately. Input and monitor the close call system where applicable. Undertake and support projects traffic management plans (TMP). Support the Alstom fatigue management policy and processes and assist in the production of the project fatigue management plan. Undertake & Assist Client, Contractor, Supplier EHS engagement meetings as required. Support the EHS Manager in developing and implementing strategies taking into account the business and corporate requirements for managing and continually improving the company’s safety standards. Carry out training sessions/briefings on EHS topics as necessary to the project team (Toolbox Talks). Monitoring employees and contractors to ensure that activities are undertaken in accordance with agreed – standards ( client, industry, PSCS requirements, ISO 45001,14001,9001), procedures, Work Package plans/task briefs (Method statements), inspection & test plans. Support the EHS Manager with start-up packs for new projects and EHS information remains current including – posters, notices, signage, registers, and procedures. Deputize for the EHS Manager as necessary. Support and maintain internal safety reporting systems. Provide EHS support for Alstom UK&I. All about you We value passion and attitude over experience. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role: Essential Experience working in the Construction Industry specifically as part of an organisation appointed as PSDP & PSCS NEBOSH Construction/General certification / QQI Level 7 or equivalent Technical Member of IOSH (minimum) PHEEC – First Aid Response Persuasive communicator with the ability to explain legislative information clearly and concisely. Demonstrates a good use of initiative. Accident and Incident Investigation training. Good knowledge of SHWW(Construction) Regulations 2013. Experience of working with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 / HSG 65 standards. Knowledge of behavioural based safety and culture change. An understanding of the customer requirements for safe working. Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation. High level of influencing and inter-personal skills. Risk & Auditing assessment skills. Results focused with a ‘sense of urgency’ to achieve within required timescale. Desirable Working knowledge of Railway specific standards / legislation EHS experience - 2+ years is desirable. Safe Pass Personal Track Safety (PTS) Experience of the Railway Industry. QQI Level 8. Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (AIEMA) certificate. IT Skills – competent user of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet. Trained Auditor. Technical Signalling knowledge Plant/work equipment operations.
