Come join our team and make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives.2 year MSAT Technician Apprenticeship ProgramSUMMARYBioMarin is a high-performing, team-based organization, where colleagues are flexible, multi-skilled and empowered to make decisions.A high level of initiative, energy and motivation are key role requirements, as well as excellent organizational skills.The MSAT Apprentice will serve as an integral member of the Lab Services team in MSAT/Biologics Centre of Excellence (BCoE) laboratory.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high standard of work, adhere to schedules and be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will also have good self-awareness, act decisively and be a complete team player.If successful, the candidate must attend the academic portion of the apprenticeship throughout the 2 year (MSAT Technician) apprenticeship program. During the term, the apprentice would work 3 days per week in our high-tech Laboratory, learning on-the-job, while spending 2 contact days per week with the education partner institution during the academic year.Reporting to the LS Manager, the primary role of the MSAT Technician is to provide support to internal and external customers by providing lab services tasks. Ensuring our products are safe for patient use and fit for purpose.ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:For entry into year 1 of the Level 6/7 Programme applicants must have the following:Pass (Grade O6 or better) in five leaving certificate subjects one of which must be math’s and one science related subject250 CAO pointsorSuccessful Level 6 Laboratory Technician ApprenticesCandidates with a Level 6 in a related disciplineCurrent employee with relevant experience and qualificationsMature studentBefore enrolment on the apprenticeship programme the apprentice will attend an industry interview and will be approved and registered by SOLAS – these elements will be facilitated by BioMarin and SOLAS Project Manager.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the management and delivery of buffer solutions, media, and other tasks within MSAT laboratory.Responsible for carrying out pH meter calibrations, activities.Complete all appropriate training through SOPs and safety Risk Assessments.Assisting Lab Services group with cleaning and preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, not limited to, pH meter, conductivity meter, osmometer, balances, glassware washer, biosafety cabinets, fume hood, etcPerform water and condensate sampling per procedure for lab RIW, LPUW and clean steam.Perform Biowaste inactivation.Maintain Dewars containing the cell bank with liquid nitrogen refills.Assist lab services personnel, supporting housekeeping activities and consumable stock management.Assisting in laboratory investigations as appropriate.Identifying any opportunities for improvement within the MSAT and associated environments.Maintain the laboratory in an inspection-ready state.CONTACTSReports to LS Manager.Note: This description is not intended to be all-inclusive or a limitation of the duties of the position.
