Job Title: Microbiology Manager (12-Month FTC) Location - Sligo A rapidly expanding biopharmaceutical manufacturer are at a pivotal time in our growth. They are in the late stages of developing and commercialising a new portfolio of innovative biopharmaceutical products. As they continue to expand, they are looking for a dedicated Microbiology Manager to lead their Micro Laboratory team on a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC). Given their ongoing expansion, there will be future opportunities within the organisation. Role Overview: As the Microbiology Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. You will manage all aspects of the Micro Laboratory, including testing, scheduling, and regulatory compliance. Your leadership will be key in guiding a team of skilled microbiologists and analysts, driving excellence in laboratory operations, and contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing site. Key Responsibilities: Provide an effective testing service to the plant, ensuring products are tested to specification on time, supporting plant quality and safety goals. Ensure the Laboratory meets its customer quality, service, regulatory, and financial goals through effective management of the Micro Laboratory function. Oversee all laboratory operations, including facility and utility qualification sampling, testing of incoming materials, in-process sampling and testing, and finished product testing. Liaise with Warehouse, Planning, Manufacturing, and Production teams to coordinate sampling and testing schedules and priorities. Actively participate in internal and external audits, and manage follow-up actions on audit findings. Lead and develop a team of microbiologists and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. Experience and Qualifications: M.Sc. / B.Sc. in Microbiology or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years' experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry in a laboratory role. Strong knowledge of QA/QC operations, including specifications, test methods, and lab testing equipment. Proven experience in people management with strong leadership skills.
