Job summary An exciting opportunity is available for a Band 5 to work within the Day Case (Fotherby) Ward at County Hospital Louth.If you would like to be part of a dynamic, skilled, motivated and friendly team delivering high quality nursing care to Surgical , Orthopaedic and Ophthalmology patients within a Day ward and you are an NMC Registered General Nurse Level 1 then this is the post for you. We consistently score 5 stars on The Friends and Family Test (FFT) and pride ourselves on the individual care we give to ensure all patients have a positive day surgery experience.The specialities coming through the Day Case ward are: Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Breast, Community Dental, Urology and General SurgeryYou will be expected to assist in the management and co-ordination of staff to aid theatre utilisation by ensuring patients are prepared for theatre in a timely manner. You will be responsible for ensuring patient safety pre and post surgery and upon discharge. Main duties of the job Successful applicants will be given a comprehensive individualised induction programme so that you may develop your skills and knowledge within the ward setting around existing skills and knowledge.For newly qualified nurses, the Trust has a supportive Preceptorship Programme with dedicated practice educators providing support in practice. This is complemented by a comprehensive taught programme in the first year post qualification.Further continuing programmes of development will be based on meeting your individual personal and professional needs to assist you in the development of your skills.We are committed to encouraging staff development through annual appraisal .The department operates Monday to Friday 07:00 - 20:00 hours with a system of rotation long and short shifts with e rostering system in use to support some flexibility. Person Specification Qualifications Essential NMC Level 1 registration Desirable Evidence of further education Teaching certificate/ practice assessor supervisor experience Previous Experience Essential Recent experience in an appropriate area surgical or medical day case or acute hospital wards Desirable Ability to complete extended roles venepuncture/cannulation/male catheterisation Committed to ongoing personal development Skills Essential Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
