Focus Ireland are recruiting Relief Social Care Workers to support our service in Clonmel, Co Tipperary. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading organisation in the field of social care, this opportunity will allow you to work in a U18s residential service and develop your professional practice to an exceptional standard.The service provides short-term accommodation to Ukrainian young people, aged 15- 17, who have been displaced from their home.Flexible working hours are on offer to suit your availability. You may be called for a shift at any stage, however, are under no obligation to accept the shift. You are paid for the hours which you work. Sleepovers and day shifts are available.Primary Purpose: To work as part of Focus Ireland’s residential children’s service, to provide care, protection, and support to the vulnerable or dependent young people, individually or in groups, in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team and other relevant agencies. What you will do:To work within the framework of the overall objective of Focus Ireland and the Focus Ireland values.To work on a relief basis as part of a team within the framework of the policies and procedures in place for the project or as directed by the project leader, assistant project leader or section manager.To participate in the development and implementation of care and placement plans.To support young people that have experienced trauma and that present with challenging behaviour.To refer and support young people referring to external agencies that may further assist them with the personal, social, educational, employment, legal and accommodation needs.To promote the participation of young people in decision making on issues that affect their lives at both individual and collective levels.To promote the rights and responsibilities of each young person within the service.To liaise with the parents, family, general services and other agencies on behalf or the young person.To record and maintain records on a relief basis in relation to the project and individual clients in accordance with statutory requirements and health and safety legislation.To attend and participate in team, review and agency meetings as required.To work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects.To undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned to you from time to time in consultation with the Manager.To observer all Health, Safety and Welfare at Work regulations and notify management of any risks or concerns you may have in relation to same. What you will need:A Third Level Degree in Social CareProven direct work experience in relief/part-time work in a social care settingExperience of supporting marginalised clients/groups, preferably adolescentsA working knowledge and insight into the social issues that affect young people who have or are experiencing homelessnessAbility to manage and support clients in crisis who present with challenging behaviours based on the values and principles of best practice in Focus IrelandWorking knowledge and understanding of Child Protection Ideally:A working knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention modelA working knowledge and understanding of the National Standards for Children’s Residential CentresSome experience of key working, assessments and care planningAbility to work well in a team environmentReliability and flexibilityExcellent report writing and IT skills   Focus Ireland is an equal opportunities employer This role is subject to Garda Vetting and satisfactory reference checks
