Workshop Manager

OverviewKAON Automation is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our workshop team of Mechanical, Electrical and Debug Technicians.  Our workshop is a busy changing environment, producing highly technical complex machinery to a high quality within tight deadlines.A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and sound judgement to make important decisions on resourcing and prioritisation of activities.  Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Workshop Manager also liaises with project engineers, the design and quality teams as well as leading and working on various management initiatives.Key Responsibilities:Management of a diverse team to ensure maximum efficiency achievedOngoing performance reviews to maximise individual potentialEffective coaching of team membersPlanning training needs of team membersProvide technical assistance and direction to their teamPlan resourcing requirements, balancing priorities with constraintsChampion a quality approach to all output (Right First-Time approach)Champions site wide Health and SafetyImplement Good Manufacturing PracticeOverall management of department budgetIdentify and implementation of process and cost improvement opportunitiesLiaising with customer representatives when on site during ongoing progress reviews and testingActively contribute to various companywide improvement initiativesPeople management experienceRelevant experience in a manufacturing environmentEngineering background with relevant technical qualificationAbility to work well under pressureExcellent problem-solving skillsPositive people person with proven organisational skillsForward thinking, open to changeExcellent attention to detailAble to take ownership and accountable for resultsTenacious in deliveryTakes pride in improvementsSelf- starterHands-on approachKey Skills Required:People management experienceRelevant experience in a manufacturing environmentEngineering background with relevant technical qualificationCharacteristics:Ability to work well under pressureExcellent problem-solving skillsPositive people person with proven organisational skillsForward thinking, open to changeExcellent attention to detailAble to take ownership and accountable for resultsTenacious in deliveryTakes pride in improvementsSelf- starterHands-on approach
