Our client based in Cork is seeking an EHS Specialist to join theirEHSQ Department. They manufacture specialty chemicals used in the mining industry for the solvent extraction of minerals from their ore bodies for their clients across the globe.Their portfolio comprises six segments: Chemicals, Materials, Industrial Solutions, Surface Technologies, Nutrition & Care and Agricultural Solutions LocationCork Working Area:EHSQ Department Contract TypePermanent What you can expect Reporting to the EHSQ Manager, the role will incorporate the following responsibilities: Implement robust EHS programs and day-to-day activities to ensure continuous compliance with legal requirements. Manage the EHS training programs, including the organization, coordination, and delivery of training to ensure that all employees have up-to-date necessary training to enable them to conduct their roles safely. Act as a subject matter expert on permit to work, task risk assessment, and transport safety, providing technical guidance to production and engineering departments. Principal liaison with TDS responsible persons/DG advisors for transport providers to the Cork site. Responsibilities include investigating any transport-related incidents and coordinating transport safety management with site DGSA and the appointed transport safety advisor. Provide information to DGSA for annual reporting. Establish and report on key performance indicators related to safety awareness. Lead incident investigations to determine root cause and support the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Manage the site risk assessment program ensuring that all hazards are identified and assessed. Manage the collection and reporting of EHS data for completion of annual reporting requirements (regulatory and corporate). Manage and maintain important EHS registers on-site including confined space register, risk assessment register, health surveillance matrix, SDS register, site training matrix, and contractor management database. Provide inter-departmental support on EHS matters. Manage SDS classification changes including updating SDS logs, communicating changes to affected employees, and supporting the update of SOPs and task risk assessments. Support Occupational Health with the organization and coordination of health surveillance. Qualifications: A minimum third-level qualification (level 8) in EHS, Engineering, or Science 3+ years experience in a chemical/pharma manufacturing environment. Ability to interpret EHS/regulatory requirements and lead programs to constantly improve site performance. Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). A manual handling instructor qualification (not essential). Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally at all levels of the company.
