Job Purpose: As a Buying Assistant at Carraig Donn, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Buying team to ensure the efficient and effective sourcing, selection, and management of products. Your role will involve assisting with the development of product ranges, managing supplier relationships, analysing sales data, and ensuring that the right products are available at the right time to meet customer demand. Carraig Donn is 100% Irish owned and operated with over 500 people employed across our Head Office and network of 42 retail stores. Our Head Office, Warehouse, and eCommerce operations are all conducted from our home in Westport, Co. Mayo. Carraig Donn is continuing to grow year on year, with an exciting 10-year expansion plan and a never-standing-still approach. Key Responsibilities: Product Sourcing & Selection: Assist in sourcing and selecting new products and suppliers in line with company strategy and customer demand. Support the Buyer in developing and maintaining product ranges that reflect current trends and customer preferences. Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, and product presentations as required. Supplier & Inventory Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication and delivery schedules. Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with company standards and policies. Assist in managing stock levels, placing orders, and tracking deliveries to ensure timely availability of products. Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to support decision-making processes. Prepare regular reports on product performance, sales, and stock levels, and present findings to the Buying team. Assist in identifying opportunities for product range expansion or discontinuation based on sales performance. Administrative Support: Manage product samples, including organising and maintaining sample rooms. Assist with the preparation of product information, including descriptions, pricing, and imagery for promotional materials. Coordinate with the Marketing and Merchandising teams to ensure accurate and timely product information is communicated. Market Research: Conduct regular competitor analysis to stay informed of market trends, pricing strategies, and product offerings. Provide insights and recommendations to the Buyer based on market research and customer feedback. Skills & Qualifications: Education: A degree in Business, Fashion Buying, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred. Experience: Previous experience in a buying, merchandising, or retail environment is advantageous. Experience in fashion, homeware, or giftware retail sectors is a plus. Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. A keen eye for detail and a strong interest in fashion and retail trends. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Passionate about the retail industry and eager to learn and develop within the role. Working Conditions: Location: The is a hybrid role with at least 3 days in the Swords office Hours: Full-time (40 hours), with occasional flexibility required during peak periods.
