We create smart innovations to meet the mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. We design and manufacture a complete range of transportation systems, from high-speed trains to electric buses and driverless trains, as well as infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions.

Alstom is the UK & Ireland’s leading supplier of new trains and train services, and a leading signalling and rail infrastructure provider. Alstom have built, or are building, just under 40% of the UK mainline train fleet; as well as the entire fleets in service with London Underground, and Dublin Luas.

We provide the widest range of smart solutions in the rail market, from innovative high-speed rolling stock, metros and trams to maintenance, modernisation, infrastructure and signalling. Employing 6000 people, we design and build trains at Derby, the UK’s largest train factory; and operate major sites at Dublin, Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, and 30 train services depots across the UK and Ireland.

Alstom is to provide the most sustainable fleet of trains in Irish transport history. We have signed a ten-year framework agreement with Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail (IE) for up to 750 new X’trapolis commuter rail cars for Ireland’s DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) network, with a firm initial order for 19 five-car trains, valued at €270 million, including a 15-year support services contract.

This will see the replacement and expansion of the DART fleet as part of the DART+ Programme funded by the National Transport Authority under the National Development Plan 2021-2030; the new DART+ electric and battery-electric X’trapolis fleet is a big step for making rail even more sustainable while transforming the passenger experience in the Greater Dublin area and beyond.
