  Role Overview: Vision Ireland is seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Person to join our facilities management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the routine maintenance, upkeep and cleanliness of our service locations. This role ensures that facilities are in good working condition and provides a safe and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a broad skill set in various maintenance areas, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs. Working schedule: This is a full time, permanent position. 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Location: Vision Ireland Head Office in Drumcondra, Dublin (occasional travel to other Vision Ireland locations may be required)   About Vision Ireland : Vision Ireland is Ireland's national sight loss agency, we are a not-for-profit charitable organisation which provides support and services nationwide to people experiencing sight loss. We provide a variety of services to support and improve accessibility to people who are living with sight loss ranging from emotional support and counselling to employment support and rehabilitation training.   Our mission is to enable people who are blind and vision impaired to overcome barriers that impede their independence and participation in society.   Key Responsibilities 1. Maintenance and Repairs      Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing leaks and addressing minor carpentry and plumbing work.      Ensure all facilities are in good working order and comply with health and safety regulations.      Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.   2. Facility Management      Oversee and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the premises.      Manage and report any significant maintenance issues to the appropriate management.      Coordinate with external contractors for more complex repair tasks when necessary.   3. Equipment and Supplies      Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.      Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly stored.      Order and replenish supplies as needed.   4. Safety and Compliance      Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.      Conduct safety checks and ensure emergency exits and equipment are operational.      Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly.   5. Coordination and Communication      Coordinate maintenance activities across head office departments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.      Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and management regarding maintenance issues and schedules.      Maintain records of maintenance activities and report regularly to the facilities manager or designated supervisor.   Qualifications and Skills: Skills and Experience      Proven experience in general maintenance or a related field.      Proficiency in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs.      Experience using hand-held and electric tools      Ability to troubleshoot, prioritise and solve problems efficiently.      Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.      Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.      Knowledge and understanding of disabilities and vision impairments, and a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility Physical Requirements      Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.      Capability to work in various environments, including outdoors and at height.   Other Requirements - Travel: Willingness to travel between multiple locations if required - Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends or evenings if necessary.   This job specification outlines the general duties and responsibilities of the position and is not an exhaustive list.
