VP, Global Strategic Sourcing

Job Summary:West is seeking a strategic sourcing Vice President that will be responsible for transforming the organizational framework within Sourcing to provide strategic leadership in building and enhancing best-in-class procurement activities and processes. Reporting to the VP, Global Supply Chain, the VP of Global Strategic Sourcing will continue to develop West’s procurement organization with an emphasis on growing strategic sourcing capabilities and modernizing the function. This role will partner with West’s executives, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to drive value for the company. This leader will operate globally with significant non-US responsibility and oversight. The VP of Global Strategic Sourcing will also own and drive facility and real estate strategies and create solutions in support of business priorities to maximize cost effectiveness. This individual will need to be a strategic leader with the ability to execute at all levels. In this role, you will be expected to strengthen procurement processes, operational tools, operating standards, reporting, sourcing methodologies, supplier qualification/development, and risk management processes. Focuses on the management / development of operational objectives that help achieve the long term organizational strategy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and implement a Global Sourcing strategy in alignment with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality, and delivery targets, which enables the company to function and compete effectively through leadership & direction Develop and drive integrated category supply chain processes that ensure continuous improvements in supplier quality, cost performance and reporting. Responsible for ongoing management of purchasing strategy and activity and for ensuring optimal supplier performance and price Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization - this may also include suggesting alternative components or vendors. Takes a leadership role owning materials/vendor supply issues and resolutions. Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers Provide commercial solutions to operational challenges. Influence and motivate stakeholders, internal and external, to take the best commercial solution. Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the purchasing strategy Foster collaborative business relationships, understanding business needs to lead major strategic projects and complex contract negotiations with suppliers. Ensure the necessary controls, budgets, policies, and procedures are in place, as well as the approval rules/workflows are operating efficiently. Liaise with legal for the negotiation of large supplier agreements, service agreements and property sale agreements Ensure all agreements comply with the company risk policy, contracting standards and any other company policy including vendor diversity and inclusion objectives Create, develop, and manage global sourcing strategies, policies and procedures Prepare the annual sourcing budget Negotiate contract agreements on behalf of West to mitigate risk and assure product supply Qualify new supplier and facilities through the supplier onboarding process Drive year over year cost savings to continue to drive value for West through supplier innovation and process improvement Business process owner of the procurement process, savings tracking and procurement tools Provide guidance and training to all West groups that interface with the supplier community Develop, administer, and monitor continual improvement training to West’s Purchasing function Build organizational talent and leadership, providing empowerment and delegation to teams located globally Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions Other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or similar field. Minimum 15 years of global procurement/sourcing experience with increasing global responsibility and experience in a large matrixed company environment, operations experience a plus. Demonstrated ability to work with executives and teams to develop strategic, global sourcing plans. Strategic and team-oriented leader with proven success building and transforming teams. Strong knowledge in the structuring of complex supply contracts. Self-directed, action-oriented, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards. Can successfully navigate complex situations. Strategic visionary with strong negotiation skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. Ability to partner and work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and build consensus. Detail-oriented and experienced in the day-to-day operations associated with PO processing/approval and supplier management. Demonstrated ability to lead change in the face of adversity; to challenge the status quo constructively. Articulate, superb communicator, verbal and written. Ability to partner with international colleagues. Fluent in English. Travel Requirements: Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time to sites, including internationally.
