Indirect Tax Operations LeadAbout the role: The Indirect Tax Operations Lead is responsible for supporting the Indirect Tax Managers and the Indirect Tax Director in the management of the Indirect Tax team located in Dublin. This will include managing a team in all aspects of preparation of VAT compliance, audits, advisory and transformational projects across specified territories or operational responsibility. This role is part of the Indirect Tax Management Team.The role has a strong emphasis on leadership and people management in a high performance team and will be required to provide direction to team members within the Operations Team. The role will also require engagement with business partners to understand the businesses, ensure VAT compliance requirements are met, assess opportunities to maximise VAT efficiency and provide assistance in the management of VAT audits. The Indirect Tax Operations Lead is encouraged to build strong relationships across Pfizer, including within Global Tax, with the VAT accounting team in the Controllers organisation, with Global Business Services teams, with local Market Finance teams and other relevant stakeholders.Our Company: Pfizer is one of Ireland’s leading employers and the largest pharmaceutical sector investor and employer. Together, we continue to build a culture that encourages, supports and empowers our employees.Key Areas of Responsibility for an Indirect Tax Operations LeadDirect people management responsibility for a team of VAT professionals with responsibility to lead, coach, train and develop direct reports so they may carry out their roles to the highest possible standards.Oversee and drive the VAT process and all tasks performed by the role and the members of the team. This includes VAT compliance, audits, advisory and transformational projects across specified territories and operational responsibility.Manage the compliance team to ensure all VAT obligations (VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales etc) are met on a timely basis across assigned territories.Work with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and compliance of VAT return filingsAs necessary manage the integration of new activities moving into the team as a result of acquisitions and other business changes.Actively manage and oversee the engagement in Tax Authority VAT audits.Sustain professional qualifications including knowledge of existing and proposed VAT legislation, rulings and regulations to facilitate supporting the role and organisation.Seek to identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the VAT process, to drive efficiency, quality of output in an efficient and cost effective manner.Actively participate, manage and oversee the internal audit process, including preparation, maintenance and updating of process documentation and audit evidence.Actively engage and work with stakeholders, including VAT Leadership and the VAT accounting team on exposure reporting, risk management and structural planning.As a member of the VAT management team, support the implementation of new policies and procedures. Represent the Indirect Tax Department in site and other forums.Assist the Team Management in developing and managing the operational goals and tactical objectives of the department to drive the direction of the Indirect Tax Department.Qualifications and experience5-7 years’ experience of VAT compliance management in a multi-national company or professional services firmA recognized professional tax qualification (e.g. AITI) and/or significant post qualified experience an advantageDetailed knowledge of existing and proposed VAT legislation to and ability to provide comprehensive advice on specific transactions and issuesSAP experience an advantageEuropean languages an advantageStrong people management track record an advantageEffective communicator with good interpersonal skills.High level of self-motivation, energy and flexibilityStrong analytical skills and ability to work independently.
