R&D/Product Development Engineer – Busbar Trunking

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead & Support the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to commercialization, for our busbar trunking product line, in accordance with the Vertiv NPDI procedures and PMO best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to execute product development plans. Define product specifications, features, and functionalities, while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Full product compliance by Type Testing to IEC61439 & UL857. Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget constraints. Foster a culture of innovation within the product development team, encouraging creative thinking and idea generation. Work closely with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials. Stay current with technological advancements and industry developments, applying relevant knowledge to enhance product offerings. Build prototypes to support the development of product design. Conducting Engineering change process for existing products Manage the workflow of the Product Development Team.  Mentor, train, and recruitment of team members. Monitor and present department KPIs.  Other duties and responsibilities as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in engineering/design technology or equivalent combination of education & experience 5+ years of experience in Mechanical design in the manufacturing environment or directly related experience Experience designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies, extruded/injection moulded plastic parts and assemblies Proficiency in 3D modelling using Creo, Solidworks or equivalent 3D design package 3D modeling, 2D drafting (first angle and Third angle projection), GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing)  Product Risk Assessment   through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)  Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) DFA (Design for Assembly) DFE (Design for Environment) Knowledge of Process flow, PFMEA, Control plan, Standard Operating Procedure preparation Knowledge of lean line Implementation Proficiency in product lifecycle management (PLM) software, and other relevant software applications. Strong organization skills, ability to work & multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong team-building skills.  Project Management Skills Timely, accurate responses to requests for design information and drawings. Organization of drawings and documentation for efficient reference. Excellent written & verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.  Demonstrating Ethics and Integrity. Must be action & detail-oriented with strong problem resolution, analysis, & decision-making skills.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience with power distribution applications and/or data center industry is preferred. Demonstrated competence in communication, problem-solving, & project management Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Smartsheet, and other business applications
