Applications are invited for a permanent post of a Full Professor of Advanced Manufacturing within UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. The School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at University College Dublin seeks to recruit a permanent Full Professor of Advanced Manufacturing. The areas of expertise that would be suitable for this post include but are not limited to: metal and/or polymer additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing (Industry 4.0/5.0), physical metallurgy, materials processing and modelling, production engineering, manufacturing subtractive/machining processes, machine learning/data science in the manufacturing environment. Applicants should be cognisant of Ireland's industrial landscape, where medical technology is a key manufacturing sector, and be able to demonstrate how their expertise is relevant to that sector. Applicants should be internationally recognised academic leaders with a research and teaching profile in Advanced Manufacturing. This role requires the provision of leadership in the School through undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum design, obtaining prestigious national and international research funding, overseeing high-quality and impactful research that contributes to society and improves people's lives. The successful candidate will lead the next phase of the development of the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) I-Form National Centre for Advanced Manufacturing as its Centre Director, which will involve overseeing a multi-million euro programme of basic and applied research, developing strategic partnerships with industry, as well as international academic and industry collaborations. 95 Full Professor (7937) €134,287 - €169,770 per annum Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines Closing date: 12:00 noon 30th of June 2024.
