Your new company My client, a renowned Irish banking institution, is currently recruiting a Mainframe Database Engineer for their Mainframe Database team in Dublin office. It is a 6-month contract role scope for extension further with a hybrid working pattern.Your new role In your new role, as a Mainframe Database Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimising the organization’s mainframe database systems. Your responsibilities will include: DB2 Administration - Utilising your extensive knowledge of DB2 (zOS), you’ll oversee database design, performance tuning, and maintenance. You’ll ensure data integrity, security, and efficient query execution.IMS Fast Path DB Management: Leveraging your expertise in IMS Fast Path DB, you’ll handle database administration tasks related to IMS databases, including data modeling, indexing, and access methods.IBM Mainframe JCL: You’ll create and maintain JCL scripts for batch processing, ensuring smooth execution of database-related jobs.Change and Incident Management: You’ll participate in change management processes, implementing updates, patches, and enhancements. Additionally, you’ll handle incident resolution and troubleshooting.What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:DB2 Knowledge: Extensive experience with DB2 (zOS) administration, including utilities, performance analysis, and tuning.IMS Expertise: Strong understanding of IMS Fast Path DB.Ideally with 8–10 years of experience.IBM Mainframe Skills: Proficiency in IBM Mainframe for batch processing.Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, as you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
